Lasers? Pfft. Real men use RAILGUNS. Err. Well, real... Humans? I dunno.
But lasers are too easily beaten, they've got no mass to them. Shiny armor instantly has resistance to lasers, maybe not immunity, but they're certainly less effective. Kinetics or plasma is the way to go.

Well, I'm surprised to hear you say that, Hyper. I thought you'd be the kind of person that knew that they use lasers to cut mirrors. Wearing shiny armor won't just send the laser flying away. Besides, if you have even just a 100 mW laser (you can get lasers TEN TIMES stronger HANDHELD) you can permanently blind people. So just point to the eyes and even if they're using some other method of sight it'll blind THAT.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I state only what I remember to be true.

But if I had my choice, I'd go for something like, say, a DISTRICT 9 ARC GUN!

Of course lasers, if powerful enough, can still mess up even the shiniest of objects, but neither kinetics, plasma, electrical, cryo, pyro, etc... can be detered by such a simple thing as turtle wax. The kind of power you'd need to actually take down a person in a shiny suit could get more than would be easily man portable. Lets say you wrapped a person in especially shiny aluminum foil. Lasers could just bounce right off, while all the other weapons I listed would wreck that person.
Not saying that there aren't specific and lightweight counters to other weapon types, there are plenty.
Protection from electricity is being insulated or have some sort of lightning rod nearby. Pyro and Cryo can be resisted with insulated materials as well. Plasma...Uh... I'll just say "SCIENCE AND MAGNETS" and leave it at that. Kinetics are the only thing you can't block without usually bulky/heavy armor.

TL;DR:
Bullets work, use em.

Nah, I prefer my cybernetics. Bullets work fine unless they're in heavy armor, but no matter how much armor you have on you, if you get tossed off a cliff or into a wall at high speeds bones WILL break.

@Point.Blank, I didn't realise you had the exo-suit, so I guess you will have to start in the Garage, when a big piece of machinery like that belongs. Or in the back or a heavily armoured truck from the convoy. Like a hostage. From the other fight they had. From another military organisation. Whos fighting against the Ban Ali AND this coalition we seem to be a part of. Yeah, lets go with that. ;)

@Ociamarru, sure you can make a new character, but you will go to the bottom of the waiting list if you die, remember. Fair's fair.

What the Hell is the ENVG? And I dident break it, i used parts from my Night goggles to make my scouter, got the goggles from the armoury.

People was warned, ships launched, soldiers trained, weapons built and prepared.

All for Nothing.
The 1st wave smashed through the Martian Defense forces, No one knew what was happening before it was too late. By the time any resistence had even managed to be organized, The Martian Central Command Station ( Or MCCS for Short ) had been destroyed. Reports of this tragic loss was rapidly sent to populations through out the solar system. People realized soon what they was fighting. They was fighting parts of the Multi Generational Starships! But the parts was...Different. When ever a friendly ship was destroyed, A strange ship whould go to the wreckage, and re assemble it into some strange mess, that whould go forward to conquer. The 1st wave was repelled, by use of the earlier weapons from the Martian Earth Cold War. These Crude obsolete weapons saved Mars. But now the 2nd wave is incoming... And there is not enough of these obsolete weapons of war to save the colony again.

You and your team mates, are onboard the UEGS ( United Earth GunShip) Bismarck, a relativly recent design, to suppress revolts and pirates in the Asteroid Belt.

It has Simple weaponry to go along with its simple design. A Automated Medbay to ensure the crew is healthy ( This is basicly a small room with various boxs on the wall to tend to your health ), A Command center with recent Touch screen consoles to control it, and various tools on the walls ( Including a rifle cabinet on the wall, ever since the Mutiny of the UEFS ( United Earth Freight Ship ) Voyage, Where the lack of weapons in the bridge lead to the execution of Captain Fredrick. ), A Rotating swivel Mounted gun turret, bellow the front of the ship ( A Rail gun based cannon to be precise, with Standard ammunition ( More ammo types can be discovered or created in game!, so experiment a little! ), and various settings such as Standard Fire and Overdrive( Overdrive Ups the damage and rate of fire of the gun, but each turn it takes a dice roll to see if its damaged! ). Crew Quarters are included, but are rather sparse, every crew member Gets a bunk and a locker, with various forms of recreation. The Captain gets his own quarters. The Engine room contains a Nuclear Fission reactor, supplyling the power to this small ship, and to the ships Twin IonDrives, This is where the controls for the ships emergency solar sails are deployed. The cargo bay is nothing special, It features the same loading dock as normal ships, but contains the Ships ordnance, Armory, foodstuffs and a little workshop for morale reasons.

the chances of getting a 1 with that setting and SURVIVING it in the heat of combat is absolutely zero, it'll suck firing the main cannon and accidentally pressing the EJECT button for it..

also it's probably only 2/3 people getting some action done.. all the others will just sit around >.>
edit: still I would want to be in that thing :3
