Ugh... Why hasn't this thread been locked....

In short terms, if you don't like the dev speed, get over it. Nobody ever promised a complete game.

And if you're gonna ♥♥♥♥♥ about the quality of CC, ♥♥♥♥ off. If you have a problem with the game, why the hell are you on the forums? Spare us your whining and leave.

♥♥♥♥ Microsoft? I hope you're running CC on Debian. Or, even slower, on a Mac.
Cortex Command runs faster on this 6 year old laptop running Linux than on a 1 year old laptop running XP. The mac port of CC also seems better optimised from observation, and runs a lot smoother than the windows one on a comparable hardware platform (I appreciate that that comparable platform will cost you 200% of what it should, but we're talking speed, not cost effectiveness). What're you smoking Mr. Patriotism?
I agree with you about the delicious fallacies etc, but I don't think you should claim anything unix based is going to run slower than windows.

On the whole content of the topic, just wait it out. Sure, be disappointed. Complain that you don't think that the game is going to reach it's delicious potential and that you think Dan's a lazy dickhead. Just don't expect us to care very much, Dan to read it, or the moderators to tolerate it for long. We've got a fairly rigid anti-whining policy here.

Fact:
Cortex Command is updated slowly.
Fact:
The maker of the game is pretty clear he does not care that you are not satisfied with this slowness.

Also fact:
I get higher FPS on my hackintosh when running OSX than Windows.
(That's the only machine with XP on it, and it's only there for working on the bios, so there is nothing else in it.)

Anecdote:
I have gotten better FPS running the game in WINE than I have under Windows 7.

Yes, the game is taking time to make. But think yourself lucky that you can play it now. A standard commercial game is released when it's done, not piece by piece.

This isn't a standard commercial game. It's a standard indie game, and standard indie games don't take this long to make unless it's not being worked on at all.

It's an indie game. He has no deadlines, and he's not getting support from a company. He has no reason to carry it on. The game will take as long as it takes.

That's probably the most terrible argument I've heard on these forums thusfar. "Hey screw you critics of avatar the last airbender, you try making a movie this good!!"

That is not. how. things. work. "This restaurant is really crappy." "Oh yeah? You try making one as good as this!!"

Do you realize what a dumb fallacy that is? Quite simply cortex command is not an amazing game in the slightest. There are plenty of better games out there that are much more engaging, made in less time with the same or less amount of devs(2). I paid less for beat hazard and it's a much better game. So really, you don't have a point at all there.

Avatar has already come out, and critics get paid to give people opinions on a film release. Nobody is paying you to ♥♥♥♥♥ about Dan. Also, it's really not hard to make a film as 'good' as that....
The critics aren't going "BAWW I WANT MY AVATAR NOW WHY ISN'T M. NIGHT WORKING ON IT HE'S LOOKING AT OTHER FILMS ITS NEVER GOING TO GET RELEASED... THE FILM WON'T EVEN BE GOOD! STAR WARS WAS BETTER!"

If you like other games, go play other games. Nobody asked you to come here and complain.

Complaints make the world go around. Hopefully he would read the forums from time to time and notice the complaining, eventually. It's a good motivation factor to know people still care about what you're doing.

It's already well established he never reads the forums, only when the mods bring something big to his attention. Plus, you and Roadkill aren't really showing you care, you're telling him he has a shitty game and he should spend all his time working on Cortex Command, instead of something that'll actually allow him to make money and eat.

What happened to weasel's forum of love and community? Is it still too late to order that nuke & pave?

I never said his game was crappy!

Patriot does make a good point though, complaints make the world go round. If no one says anything then nothing gets done!
I am not being a nob and whining, all I am trying to do is to get some people to agree with me and hopefully speed the process up a bit so I can play the full game and have loads of fun. The fact that a lot of the comments I see here saying that Data doesnt really even care anymore about this game and that in his eyes its a flop is not very encouraging and gives grounds for Pariot to say its crap (you basically AGREED with him!)... if you know this why the hell arent you guys complaining?

and I repeat before anyone says I am 'whining' (which seems like a favoured excuse to ignore someone and brush something under the carpet here) ... go play with the traffic or something, read what I wrote again. I do actually care what happens with this game or I wouldnt be spending time and effort arguing with some of you over defensive, blind people to get some things fixed what I think is wrong.

Quick question... are they going to get rid of that outo-duck function in the next release?

Search for smart brain case. It solves the stupid sentry AI.

Also, I think most of the members are already choking you in their daydreams for releasing such a shitstorm because we basically don't complain about Data's slow update rythm or the glitches of the game. We just enjoy the game and the mods. If anyone starts to complain, people basically tell him to shut the fudge up and go to hell.

Chill, people.

He doesn't really listen to us either. Otherwise we would probably have the forum software fixed, and the wiki up.

I just remember that one time he appeared because something revolutionary was found...

If no people are complaining, it usually means things are being done right.
When people like you whine however, things get set back.

Also, you should be happy to even be playing the WIP versions of CC. A lot of indie devs don't let you play their games until they are _completely_ finished.

Patriot is a daman alt, y'all kids are dumb.

Oh hey look, this topic hasn't generated any useful discussion, just the same old ♥♥♥♥ that it always does.

THEFAX:
The game is expensive and updates slowly

them's the fax

anything further than that is idle speculation that serves no purpose whatsoever.
