Force-Based MO Grappling Gun *B30, maybe better physics
I'm working on an MO-to-MO grappling gun that won't kill the user or the attached object. I'm somewhat successful. Still needs some work. Stability Update Screenies: Controls: Hold Fire to launch the claw untill it grabs onto something. Once it does, hold Crouch and Mouse Users) Scroll Up/Down Keyboard Users) Hold Up/Down to climb the rope. Press Fire again to release the claw. Any feed back and/or mode suggestions PHYSICS HELP is appreciated.

Nice! I didn't download it yet, but I'm trying to think how could it be used...

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
Wow this is cool, I'm about to experiment all kinds with this thing. I'm thinking of actor manipulation at RANGE at some point. That'd mean the grapple would stay out from the crosshair. Interesting stuff
edit: spelunker?

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
This is extremely fun but ultimately harder to control than it appears... These two make great mid-air acrobats though. I suppose it would be easier if one of them was a dropship but oh well. Great job so far looking forward to how this turns out.

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
It's really really hard to actually make use of it, to be honest..

Unfortunately, the applications for something like this are very limited, however, you could make a base defense cannon that shoots these out and electrocutes incoming enemy craft and units.

I love it when the word 'experimental' comes with 'cavecricket'.

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
Hmm, we could make flails. Use it for harpoon guns ( harpoons + wire ) . Use it to taze, and then haul the tazed. ( until the line is severed )
Zip lining...

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
Strap one of these to a DSTech Plagarius (From the newest Beta), and you'd have an extremely stable platform for sniping.

Re: Experimental Force-Based MO Grappling Gun
this could be used to make the Crackdown 2 Mag grenade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D30fQqJB ... re=relatedwho would crash better a Dropship = pulled down and blows into ton of gib or a Rocket = spins around arcing into the ground

Re: Force-Based MO Grappling Gun *UPDATE
Holy crap. I feel so happy right now. I have created a ROPE that is 100% FORCED BASED AND IS STABLE. Have fun with the update, usability/functionality just doubled at least.
Feel free to suggest modes for the Spelunker. Planned modes right now: Link Mode - Connect 2 objects together or connect an object to terrain with a rope.
I'm going to sleep now...

Re: Force-Based MO Grappling Gun *UPDATE
I want to see a weaponized version of this, with a high tech sprite, and a deadly sharp claw.
Have the first mode identical to this, but with two sharp particles at the tips of the claw, on impact. Not enough to do much damage, but enough that if you hook onto a dropship, there will be a clank and sparks, and if you hook onto a meatbag they'll bleed.
Make the second mode resemble the spring mode from the TF hook, but have it pull enemies towards you, Scorpion style.
And have the third mode resemble the first, but with a tazer feature for streaming electricity into a hooked target, dealing constant damage and making them have a seizure, ala Darkstorm EMP.
