Kiktamo wrote: Okay. Is this better? Or does it need more shading? Okay, I'm going to analyze this from top to bottom for you. At first glance, it looks really good! The colors look good, and the design is alright. At second glance, it looks a little messy. The very top, the back of the sub/ship. I can't tell what it is. It seems like a shiny blob that's hanging onto the ship. Though I can kind of see what you're going for... It's very important to represent ideas as clearly as possible. This is true for your speech, or for your art. Simplify it until it's easy to recognize for what it is. The windshield... The shine looks alright, but it's a little messy. The highlight on the outside needs more AA, it looks really ugly against the outline. You're on the right track, though. The top of the blue segment could use some serious SHINE! I mean, it makes pixel art look a lot better when you apply shininess liberally in the right places. And I have to admit, that's the perfect place. The whole ship has a little perspective. This is caused by the front of the ship, where you have a little dip in the blue area... the ship is assumed to be symmetrical, so this suggests a tilted angle. This is good! Pure side views are boring! However, some parts of the ship don't conform to this perspective. That little white spot near the bottom of the sub/ship... what is it? Like I said, it's very important to make objects recognizable at first glance.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
It's not really shaded, it kind of looks like a blob of grey-ness. It might be easier to practice drawing with a pencil and paper.
The wiki has been down for a while.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I would like to recommend you, to make the IMAFIRINGMALAZOR-sprite in 001, the reason its, because its looks like a release of energy and make the player who holds that device feel almighty. If you make 001 the weak-shining sprite, it would look like a pirate boat without sails.

We are to help you get better, not to make your sprites for you.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
You can't just flip a switch and become good at art. Practice makes perfect.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
No it isn't. It's because you pick up on spriting one day then the next day you decided that you suck too much and you won't ever get better unless we do it for you.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Yeah broheim. Don't be embarrassed. Go n sprite. Doesn't matter if it's good. Sprite and then come back for help. You don't even need to read tutorials if you don't wanna.
Frankly the quality of work that is considered acceptable here isn't very high. You need to put work in, but it's not an overwhelming task. If you want to sprite, then sprite. If you want to ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan, then stfu.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Dood, just make art. It doesn't matter how good or bad it is. Just do your best.
No matter the quality of the work, it will be a step towards perfection.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I added another shade of shading, darkened the outlines a bit, and tweaked a few pixels. I didn't want the shading to be too aggresive. The bottom two are the upated ones.
