♥♥♥♥ yes, or at least mismotivation. I spent and hour ironing out the botched A* in ilopocalypse rather than doing zombie respawn code. I just can't be ♥♥♥♥ getting around to it at the moment, which is ungood, as I want to be able to tick it off my list. I suppose I might just do that tomorrow morning, actually.

Higher standards are at cause : no new mods are at effect. 1 is less than 2

Lua is at cause : higher standards are at effect. 2 is less than 3

Lua is at cause : no new mods are at effect. 1 is less than 3.

that is why I suggest this. all other statements are brought by this logic.
bonus points if you get the "1 is less than 2, but 2 is less than 3" source

Newcomers will almost certainly try their hand at modding, and some of those will end up posting the mod on here.
It's not that fewer people are making them; More people are coming to know the game, which in fact increases the size of the (potential) modding community. At that point, it's probably the mood in the forum that determines whether or not someone posts a mod.

I make lots of random ♥♥♥♥. I don't release everything. Half of it is garbage I do for my friends because they want "teh ub3r 1337 bull3t sp@ay3r".

But then the good and quality content requires effort, which requires motivation.

Yo miles, you've had the same point since you entered the discussion and everyone's disagreed with you every time you've done it, could be time to give it up. Lua is not at fault, nor are the higher standards. We just have lazy hacks and barely any new kids in town (for lack of a real analogy) so there's less mods, the end.

And people run out of ideas. We don't want this place flooded with over 9000 versions of the same gun. Generally, when something is made, other people don't make another one.

With the exception of dummy resprites.
We actually see a fair number of those.

How about instead of complaining, we get off our collective asses and actually make something?
♥♥♥♥, that was easy.

Motivation is the biggest thing for me. I can slam about one or two hundred pixels together before I am just putting myself through the motions and I can't actually make anything good.

motivation, short attention span, busy.
these are the 3 things that are slowing me down right now.

im fairly lazy, i admit, i have a short attention span for modding, cause i keep having good ideas, so i dont polish that many of them, so lots of them dont get released, and im busy with school, my own game, and a big faction i will release eventually.

Another thing might be all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥s we have flooding in nowadays. Ungrateful little shits who feel like people owe them quality mods that meet their specifications exactly make me not want to mod.
