Data's new project
What do you think about it? if you havent heard, its apparently blossomed from blaster master (driving in a cave), so he said the only thing he would talk about was this, he did only the engine and idea, so the engine premise is the player will be driving a manualy controlled car (he describes it as, the car wont magically go left, the torque would change, and the player could manually control the suspension) and the car is completely destructable, like if he were to be shot or hit a wall, the tires could be deformed, or the car could be smashed completely (source http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5103643) he also talks about the meta-game and CC completion, and his flashlight fetish

Re: Data's new project
Wow. He's trying to ditch us.
J/K. This could mean he's kicking it up into high gear, which is good.
edit: "intended to be tactical" -Data
Seriously guys.

Re: Data's new project
I think he's an idiot. He obviously can't handle what he has on his plate, which he has SOLD TO PEOPLE, and he's starting another project. It's asinine and irresponsible. He's also going to run his sales (which I imagine aren't very spectacular at the moment) into the ground with this announcement. No matter how much PR he plays, and Dan doesn't have a good track record with PR, people are going to doubt him (also, in part, due to his reputation). Dear Dan, please stop thwarting the community's efforts to prevent you from driving your business into the ground. Love, Ophanim who is smarter than you.

Re: Data's new project
Hes not ditching us, hes just probably gunna throw in another forum topic under [game name]. Though personally, driving and controlling suspension sounds fun and all, but i would rather have CC. I mean, we have Forsa and Need for Speed, etc.. One of them is bound to make what your describing.

Re: Data's new project
Apparently nobody listened to the thing and realized that somebody else is programming it and that he's basically just providing guidance.

Re: Data's new project
I'm confused about that because at one point hes taking about turning over all the programming to some unnamed, unfindable, uncredited mystery programmer. Then he flusters when the guys ask him what he actually does. Then later he talks about all the hassle he goes through with walking. He also talks about how CC is preventing him from doing other stuff.
From what I see the whole metagame thing is something that could be explained in an afternoon. So I guess we shouldn't worry that he's working on something else now as he is just a manager.

Re: Data's new project
Sounds like CC has gotten boring to work on. While it would be pretty assholish to drop CC's development (not that this is happening) I cannot help but wonder whether the game would be better off being worked on in an open source environment. It'd probably be a huge mess, which would scare away users. I still drool at the thought of fixing the mac version...
Why, exactly, would this secondary project-thing be so great? Maybe the description was not fabulous, but I fail to find it interesting.

Re: Data's new project
if the programmer is Edward micmullen, im psyched. anyways, you cant blame data for wanting to get cc done with, 6 years on the same project would make me go insane. still, he shouldn't just pull out right now, cause LEAEF WATNZ MOAR CCz.

You directly contradicted yourself with a single line between. What the ♥♥♥♥ are you even trying to say?

I can understand data being bored of his project from the standpoint of the developer [happens to me all the time, and i just do small egp games] but, as a player, i enjoy the game, dont want development to end yet, and think he shouldent pull out yet.
