Post Is it just me, or has the Revolver Cannon changed a bit?
Alright, so it's been forever since I played Cortex Command, so I decided to dig out my product key and got back into it. I've been having fun, but I've noticed that the Revolver Cannon's changed a bit since I last used it. Now, instead of simply being a solid slug capable of shearing off limbs and heads, the projectiles seem to explode on impact with a resilient enough target like a drone or dropship (Or a few seconds later if the projectile comes to a rest in the ground).

Some folks might find this awesome, but I always felt the merit in the Revolver Cannon was in the fact that the projectiles -didn't- explode, and instead you had to rely on those chunky projectiles to smash the ever-loving crap out of opponents and machines. (Smacking the top of a rocket just as it was about to take off was the highlight of my skirmish games. XD It just doesn't feel the same when the slug explodes on impact with the rocket.)

Now, I'm not saying "Teh new revolvr canon sux bring back the old one!!!1!1one", but I am curious as to whether anyone's implemented a "Classic Revolver Cannon" that keeps the non-explosive solid slug that made the cannon my favourite weapon to screw about with.

(Of course, even if there isn't a Classic Revolver Cannon, I can make do with delivering my troops via drop crate and smashing the AI's dropships on delivery. XD)

The way you've written this post makes it sound like a request, so you should have probably put this in the requests forum. However, I will indulge and get you a little .rte with the classic Revolver Cannon. Just have a mod move this to requests, or perhaps I could just post it in Minor Mods.

Alright, thanks.

Sorry about the confusion, it's been a fair while since I've been on the boards so I'm still getting back into the swing of things.

Posting it into Minor Mods sounds like a good idea, though, so feel free to do that.

Thanks, the cannon's just as awesome as I remembered it! ^^

Still capable of taking out a Dropship's engine if aimed right, and that's where I had the most fun. :D

At this point, and having many fun times with B23, I have come to like the new one.
But I still like the old one as well; the savagery of seeing a round from the first cannon pulverize enemies is impressive.
And sounds even better. :D

The new one reminds me of those revolver grenade launchers, except now it can pulverize soldiers as well.
I also like the explosion as a means for pelting incoming foot soldiers.
I felt it was a natural progression, in a way.

Maybe it would be cool to have the explosive gun as a variant for a little more dough.

How do you dudes like to play with the revolver cannon?
I like making a Browncoat Heavy into a brain-unit, arming him with just that cannon, and seeing how long I can last.

Well I cheat and keep my bunker in mid-air, way out of reach of the enemy.

After that, I get a Dummy (I like to use Dummies because they don't bleed out, even after both their legs are shot off, so they last quite a while), equip him with a Revolver Cannon and see how much chaos I can cause. Whacking either engine of a dropship (With either the new or the Classic cannon) almost invariably leads to chaos as the ship crashes to the ground and starts spinning towards you. Sometimes you get crushed, sometimes the dropship stops short of you, sometimes it stops short, but explodes and crushes you when one of its doors hits you in the face.

Of course, when that dummy inevitably dies, I order a new one, by drop crate. (In my hands, even the drop crate is a hilariously deadly weapon.)

Yep. That's basically what this post was about. I'd noticed a change between the RC22 and RC23 Revolver Cannons, and noted that while I loved the new explosive slugs, there was a certain charm that the old non-explosive slugs held.

I must agree with Chazfox, the old revolver cannon had it's flair. It's so much fun in 2 player deathmatch games(that is one of those things where CC really shines.) But I'll be filled with joy once again, leg-less clones here I come!
And if I may add; the new revolver cannon seems to be rather unpredictable. Sometimes it explodes, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it bounces back to your face. Does this happen to you guys aswell?

Yeah, I think they made it like that so on big tough stuff that regularly wouldn't be hurt by the impact still takes some damage.

I liked the old one better than the new one, but the air resistance on both is way too much. Big menacing cannon slugs shouldn't float down to earth like a snowflake. Same goes for the spiky ball things of the mauler shotgun, which look ridiculous anyways.

B24 will have a non-explosive revolver cannon with very little air resistance. It's one of the many things I tweaked.
