Re: Sprite Help Thread
That is actually... Quite good. It probably wouldn't fit in with CC stuff without some texturing, but on its own it looks pretty good. I'm not sure why you dithered it like that, though.
Edit: The black bits are completely gradient'd. I think that it would look 10x better if you shaded it like you did the blue parts.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Well i'll put it together and see what it's like in game, i suppose i could change the colour scheme, as it was meant to be like a corporation owned craft.

Right click what you want to have open in paint XP, open with, choose default program, browse button, find the paint xp executable, open or ok or w/e, make sure the check for "always use this" is checked, ok.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I had that problem with Opera refusing to not be the way to open pdf files. Make sure the file isn't open in any other windows, or that the program you're trying stop from running it isn't open. It might not fix it, but oh well. I had to reformat to fix it, myself.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Can't really help you there. An alternative might be adding shortcuts to it and dragging the files you wish to edit onto the shortcuts to it. It should open them with the program, but if that doesn't work just use copies instead of shortcuts.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
How do I keep Paint from losing color information when saving something as a .BMP?

Re: Sprite Help Thread
You can't. You have to save as a file type that accounts for such information.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Only start spriting when it is in BMP format. Also, make sure you're saving it in the correct BMP format.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Hope you don't mind an edit: Here's what IMHO you should change: - The windows are a a little pillow shaded. In addition, there are a lot of colours that are very similar to each other. - Many parts of the ship have gradient shading, while others have banding. Try to, in general, stick to 3-5 different shades for a specific colour. Try to also make colours more saturated as you increase brightness. - Often the greebles were a little bit confusing. Instead of trying to do small, complicated details, try larger details which have more ascertainable purposes, such as rivets or lights. - Try using highlights to distinguish volumes. - You'll notice I got rid of the parts at the tips. I didn't quite understand the perspective or where you were going, since it had such complex and busy detailing. I replaced it with something simple because this is probably (correct me if I'm wrong) a place to connect the engines.

Your perspective appears rather confusing to me.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
And I know you like that hexagonal...orange coin-like shape, but it just doesn't fit on really any sprite you've put it on thus far.
I say work it into your faction's logo and leave it at that. It's an awkward shape otherwise.
