♥♥♥♥ yeah! I've been waiting for this! I played MW4:M when I was 8 years old, good times, I still have it in fact, although I don't have any of the expansions

This brings back memories... I used to play it with some shitty joystick I had which only had like 5 buttons, so I had to use the keyboard together with it (and on top of that, the joystick's acceleration toggle didn't accelerate the mech to maximum/minimum since it was made for a flight simulator). I had to change to the keyboard to use some of the more powerful weapons that were not mapped to the joystick, and use the + and - buttons for acceleration. Suprisingly I was still quite good at it despite having to search for the right buttons all the time.

I thought Mechwarrior was dead (at the time, the only way I kept myself updated on games was by going to my local Game store, which was not very often), I can't describe how happy I am to find out now that it's not!

I'd better go and buy myself a new joystick (I accidentaly destroyed the cable of my old lousy one a few years ago, and I haven't replaced it yet)

Ah yes... I remember playing Mech 2 (when I was around 6) and 4. Sadly Mech 4 Black Knight don't wanna work on XP (piece of ♥♥♥♥ Micro$oft..not supporting it for more than a year)

Mother of all things... ever! MW3/Pirates Moon was probably my first real computer game (parents weren't keen on them vidier game thingers). The controls were so out-there complex compared the the RTS's we and my friends played before that we'd always have one person driving and another at the mouse blasting away. MW4: Mercs probably sucked up a solid year of my life when I realized how to get around our ridiculous firewall and play online. Tiny community back then, I was sad when it all disappeared.

Now that MW4 is free... I wonder if "legger" is still going to be a derogatory term online, or if pilots are actually going to start armoring up their legs this time around.

Edit: God damn, you weren't kidding about this being awful. I want to say MTX lags for the reason it doesn't respond to any mouse clicks or etc., but it's just plain mentally challenged.

I haven't played this before, but I have extensive experience in Armored Core. And yes, armored legs blew in that game. Tank Treads all the way.

Armored Core is nothing like mechwarrior.

Armored Core was more about maneuvering and going One-Man-Army on hordes of little guys, or dueling with some other corporate-sponsored speed junkie to the death. Mech Warrior is a bit slower, and the mechs are treated as little more than tanks on legs and deployed in larger bulk than AC's. MW's also a lot less pretty.

Armored Core is fun but, y'know. You can't beat the Mad Cat.
Also, tank treads are for kids who can't dodge missiles.

Edit: So after watching the download rate bounce from 10 kB/s to a whopping 10 B/s over the course of four hours before the MekTek server just finally vomited out all its organs and died, I think this thing is just defunct.

Is it me or is the server dead?

The site doesn't seem to work, their fun little torrent client thinger (-insert more technical term here-) can't find it, I'm thinking it just got trashed.

I'd go look for a torrent elsewhere, but this version's supposed to be a compilation of extra content, a few new HUD things, and an accurate range finder for an artillery cannon weapon that was nearly impossible to aim on the fly before hand. But even if I had managed to download this thing last night, I have this nagging feeling telling me that the new online play servers would be six feet under as well right now.

The server ♥♥♥♥ itself cause of the massive overload i think. Just wait till tomorrow and it will be good.

Well, damn it. I've been waiting for almost a year and trying to resist the temptation of torrenting it just for the server to die.

And since it's supposed to bring those new things I'll have to endure some more.
