Re: Rock Grappler
If you scroll fairly quickly with a mouse, you might end up splattering yourself. Also, I don't think Cortex Command can read scroll input data from a tablet, only mouse.

Re: Rock Grappler
My macbook trackpad and wacom tablet's scroll panel (god that thing is old) both work in CC. Both make terrible interfaces for climbing ropes though.

Wierd. Well, I don't know what the problem is. Are you able to switch your weapons using scroll, pringer X?

Re: Rock Grappler
Scroll to climb for Keyboard Mouse is definitely awful.
But this mission is addicting and awesome and throws me back to stunting around with the ninja rope in Worms Armageddon. I got to round 4 before I rage-quit.
Very well done.

Nice idea. I find it too frustrating to enjoy though. Never got past round 1.

Re: Rock Grappler
I would always get to round 3, to end up smashing into a rock, or flying off the screen.

Re: Rock Grappler
It would be a nice feature to use the lua I/O to save you score, and return you to one level below that on a restart. An additional complication on a purposefully simple map, yes.

Re: Rock Grappler
I can make it load a certain score (peeked into Darlos' DarkStorm I/O stuff) but I don't know how to write (for saving). And the official Lua guide doesn't make much sense to me.

So who has the highest record? I got to Round 8 and then bit it bad.

Re: Rock Grappler
I couldn't get past round 1, shamefully. Cave, you might want to peek in Grif's performance tester thing, as that writes to a results.txt. Here.

Re: Rock Grappler *Update
Update. Still working on the saving/loading feature, but I changed the mission a bit with some items:
Key - You need to get this before you enter the teleporter. Life - Gives you an extra life (when you die, you restart on the same round). Fuel - More fuel for your jetpack. Don't waste it.

Re: Rock Grappler *Update
Very good. Another 'turning CC into something else' mod. I like the idea.
Gameplay is a bit repeatative after a few levels, but hopefully will have more variations with the key and fuel system.
EDIT: I'd say tune up the game pace. The rocks should be larger for easier grappling, but with a life-threatening...thing, event that forces the player to move quicker.
Though this might take ages to make.

Agreed, that life-threatening thing should be either a meteor shower, missiles spawning from the left after a certain time and all of them are chasing you, or a Speed-like bomb that detonates when you go below a certain velocity.

Re: Rock Grappler *Update
Or, you can only grapple onto a rock once, and once you let go from it it disappears.

Re: Rock Grappler *Update
I don't want the mission to be too difficult. How would you guys like randomly gibbing dropships above you? Or flying flak cannon crafts that come from the bottom of th map?
