It tends to work that way in almost any situation.

On a slightly off-topic but still somewhat relevant note, when are signatures coming back? If at all. Because I believe the promised 1 month trial period has long since expired.
I didn't PM weasel because I figured if there was an answer, it might as well be public, but it doesn't deserve it's own topic.

Treat others how you want to be treated.

Weasel, Data found you, couldn't he find someone else? *shrug*

I find the moderation team to be fine, everyone on it fills a niche.

EDIT: Signatures, at some point, would be nice. At the very least give us signatures with lower letter counts.

Weasel, all my beef with you is that you don't seem very active, but of course I'm not in-the-know.
Its great to have a self-sufficient machine, but the coming back and oiling it up every now and then can only help.

Kelas' posts caused me great exasperation. I was rendered literally speechless. This is in contrast to another person whom insisted for the greater part of an hour that the nation of India was located in the continent of Africa. I personally expected a greater degree of intelligence from you and sincerely hope you are more measured in your tone when you theoretically and hopefully return.

I... I don't often moderate drunk! And for the record, I see moderators on at stupid o'clock in the morning, and I check the reports about two or three times a day - I'll happily give out my email address, skype and facebook if you really feel the need to contact me regarding a forum issue - I am that willing to make sure everything's runnign smoothly on here.

This forum is actually fine, Kelas is asking for tinsel and lights for a Christmas tree that's already decorated. We're getting an influx of new members and yes they're screwing up, and because we don't have people bashing the ♥♥♥♥ out of them they're improving rapidly.

Call it potty training, call it whatever you wish. If you don't like it: Go away. I don't want to deal with your grievances if it means making this forum so ridiculously highbrow nobody can get on the bandwagon. At the end of the day, this forum is mainly about talking about Cortex Command, not discussing particle physics and why women should be making you a sandwich whilst you smoke a pipe. Besides, despite your clever responses you oldies seems to incessantly end up using "bro" and "qq more", not to mention the amount of times you say ♥♥♥♥♥♥ - go idle on 4chan, it's where you belong.

Polls.

On another note, I would like to see more moderators as well, or more insight in the moderators business. I don't like when I see banned people and can't see why they were banned even after going through their posting history.
I do like the new way things are run, especially after the "Modder's Ban era" was concluded.

To bad about Kelas, I did agree with a few things he said a few months ago, but then again people agreed with Hitler in the beginning too, before he went mad...

Wow, I must say that Kelas's posts really left me speechless...I mean, you would think he would have noticed no one was really on his side (except with a few minor points, I agree that Weasel doesn't appear very active, however reading his posts it is apparent he is more active than it seems. As you are the community manager it might be nice to see you round the forums a bit more, see your input a bit more directly, but thats just a small suggestion haha)

Personally, I would like to see the inclusion of some form of minor moderator position, to help keep up with new posts, as Weasel said he would like, but perhaps their actions would need some form of group approval, either from x other minor mods or one major moderator. This would give users a chance to see the workings of the moderator system without the ability to mess it up (and perhaps those who prove they can cope might be put forward to become full moderators, a trial-by-fire sort of scenario).

The other advantage of having more mods from around the world is that they would be active at different times, which could be helpful should the community build in numbers.

Anyway, just my thoughts on it, take from it what you will

In full knowledge of the fact that it would be largely meaningless, the public revealing of moderator discussion on some actions would probably make me feel better about undertaken actions, regardless of the triviality of discussion or modification which it underwent before release to the forum's general population.

Oh man there's no way we could open up moderator chat that's where we badmouth all of you, form pentagrams, and make our secret plots to destabilize the insurgency.

Also, porn. So much porn!

Naw. Just doctor it to make me feel better. So essentially I am asking for you to give me propaganda for me to believe.

Most of the ban reasons recently have been obvious (spam/multiple warnings/etc) or have been fairly esoteric or private. Knowing how the magic engine works under the hood might be comforting for the general population, but the knowledge will likely just start debates on what is or isn't fair, what direction I'm trying to take the forum in, and citing previous cases as defense against future infractions.

Suffice to say that anyone who is banned is there because they aren't chill.

Actually a lot of the moderator forum is just topics with the subject [username], and we discuss whether or not their recent behavior deserves a warn/ban, or just a stern talking to, etc. Most of it is also resolved within a day or so anyway, since troublemakers tend to shift the balance to an obvious warn/ban, and simple newbs tend to show they're at least trying to learn.

Well, I did not say "open the admin forums" (heck I didn't even know there was one, I though the mods had a big dice and said "if a high number then ban!") like Allstone suggest. What I meant were (and also posted to weasel at some point) that the mods type in the bad messages like "Banned for eternity for being unchill", if it's not a very clear case... like this one.

And about debates if things are fair or not, well if you think things are much to unfair then don't type messages. People who are banned will often (not always) feel like they have been dealt with unfairly, and that will happen even more (I think) if the mods are not clear on why people are banned - even to other members (If things are private then fine, privacy must be respected)

Sorry if I'm a bit fuzzy here, English is not even my third language...

I never suggested the banning decision making process was arbitrary. I just expressed that I would feel comforted by moderator discussion in the open, even if I knew it to be staged, doctored, etc.

Well I've been looking at the penny arcade posts, and moderators put "user was infracted for this post" in posts, how would that sound to you guys? I mean just as long as you don't kick up a ♥♥♥♥ storm regarding the post, instead of junking it we could leave it and state out in the open that so and so was warned for this kind of behaviour.
