Should we kill ourselves over theories?

I think we should.

No, no we shouldn't. Sit right down, and listen.

This is basically a guy's CGI resume. Any sound effects pulled from HL2 were used as placeholders- it even says so at the bottom of the site, if you'd bothered to read.

This has been around the internet a billion times. It has nothing to do with any 'lol secret Valve marketing campaign lol', it's just a video.

I know that.

I'm just pretending that none of us know that.

Very well done overall. There were some unbelievable parts with the acting (for instance, when that HAZMAT team is only like 10 feet behind the guy with the camera yet they're not firing) but the special effects were exquisite. Combined with the whole shaky-camera-home-video style that the film was recorded with, they looked believable and like a real part of the movie. The empty, desolate streets (which were probably full of gaggles of onlookers going "What the hell?" when this was filmed) add on to the suspense and ambient feeling.

I also liked how they started going into this direction of unknown danger- plenty of people get this knot in their gut and feel tense or apprehensive when they start seeing HAZMAT suits and contamination warnings and what not, the whole biohazard thing can go pretty deep down a person's psyche if done right.
