Me and some friends have been messing around with the demo and it seems ok. I might buy it for PC if enough of my friends do, but probably not.

What I want to know is what happens to B Company now.
I will be sorely disappointed if they can't find something to top "tanks on a golf course".

Probably tennis with grenades. Cocked ones.

EDIT: and you use your gun as a racket.

Hey, it could happen. Haggard uses his shotgun like a golf club during a cutscene in BC 1.

??? From the demo for the first game, and everything I hear about, the series seems really silly. But what I've played and seen of the new game, it looks serious business. What's the truth?

Singleplayer is silly to a degree, with nice humor and a decent story. Online it's more traditional.

And anyway it's still a wargame.

Isn't singleplayer for learning to cap heads?

No, Singleplayer is for learning:
1) How not to make AI.
2) What the death screen looks like.
3) Why AI should always have reaction times.
4) Why AI should always have a chance to miss.
5) How cool of a game this could have been if you weren't the only one who knows how to use a grenade launcher.
6) The lengths you'll go to get your comedic fix.
7) Why the Cutscenes are so awesome.

This could go on for days...

Multiplayer is for playing Battlefield! :)

(NOTE: All scientific data has been taken from the first game and therefore does not represent the second game)

EDIT: After reading my post, I decided that having a "lol" somewhere would have been a better idea because of how serious I sound. :)

I have. What works really well is taking the engie class, use landmines and explosive mk and the spec that lets you carry 6 mines. whaen attacking, cover the mcom with mines, set the charge then throw a grenade into the pile of mines.

Someone will run in to defuse it, the grenade will detonate the mines, killing them and taking 5/6 of the mcoms health.

You get at least 100pts for objective damage, another 20 if you marked it as the squad objective. If you also killed someone with the blast you get another 20 for the kill + squad objective. If you mcom is destroyed, either by the mines, charge you playnted or the mines destroyed the building you get another 110.

Lowest possible points - 100
Highest (get 2 kills) - 270 :0

Post Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
I'm loving this game, though the Steam version is actually pretty terrible. My laptop can barely run it, I can't see server ping on the server browser (which takes 30+ seconds to fully update), and most servers I join have ping upwards of 250ms. It's like playing the lottery to find a decent server.

That said, it's really fun, and basically all about the MP for me. This is the most Battlefield-like game since BF2; Heroes and 2142 were fun, but not in the way that I like my Battlefield to be. We once again have expansive maps, plenty of buildings, pretty decent destructible buildings, and plenty of vehicles. 32 players is a pretty good number, and the rush mode is really very good.

That said, I just can't get behind the assault class. I've tried it, and the 40mm never seems to actually kill anyone and the gun itself just seems to be the least accurate weapon ever, to the point where I've given up on the class completely. I literally have about 800 points total with the class - not even enough to unlock the ammo resupply. For contrast, I almost have the M95 unlocked for recon. I love recon.

Sniping is extremely gratifying. For one thing, hardcore mode is basically sniper heaven, since none of the disadvantages really apply to you except that you don't get the map on your HUD and the bolt-action rifles kill in one hit to the chest.

Current records:

15-0 on Atacama Desert, conquest, using the GOL with 12x scope. 1 mortar kill, 1 knife kill, and 13 sniper kills, at least 10 of which were headshots.

Marksman headshot +272, from the lighthouse on that one rush map to the hill leading to the 3rd set of M-COMs. I was in the lighthouse for so long that the other team started spawning past me.
