   |   Re: The legacy of Fima: DF Succession GameI just dl'd your dave, and BOY that is a dysfunctional place.
You only have 2 m. glass furnaces and the magma chambers are ridiculously small, with no room for expansion.

How did you kill the imps?

Also, NO centralised defense at ALL.

I'l post my modified version when I feel like it.

   |   Re: The legacy of Fima: DF Succession GameSpeaking of Lava, what are we going to do with the lava pool, that's directly connected to the giant pit?
Casting the whole thing in obsidian, perhaps?

Actually, it's magma. At any rate, I was planning to build a huge glass reservoir over Atlas's tomb to keep the stuff nearer our future industrial area (and fill my future office's magma falls), but that might take a while, since our glassmakers are so damn lazy. I even built a pipe to the top of the thing, so we can pump it out manually when nescessary. EDIT: Also, yeah, the place is REALLY disfunctional, but I managed to build some neat stuff there. Uploading the save so you can see the automagic airlock chamber thingy.

   |   Re: The legacy of Fima: DF Succession GameAlso, make bone bolts instead of bone crafts, because you can make STONE crafts.
Where did you get your wood?

Why didn't you train all your dogs into war dogs?

Why do you have so ♥♥♥♥ many of them? (dogs)

And WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MANY ♥♥♥♥ GLASS WINDOWS?

Also, train hammerdwarves and then give them crossbows, because marksdwarves bash ppl with their crossbow with the hammerman skill when they have no ammo.

   |   Re: The legacy of Fima: DF Succession Game- Because we just don't have any marksdwarves.
 - Does the fact that it's all over the trade depot mean anything to you?

 - Because war kittens are more manly.

 - Emergency food supply :3

 - BECAUSE WE CAN AND THEYRE AWSOM CAUSE YOU CAN SEE THROUGH 'EM! And because then dorfs will be able to look into the ocean when the megaproject is finished.

 - And we can't train marksdwarves because all our bones are being used on crafts. :3

   |   Re: The legacy of Fima: DF Succession Gametl;dr we know it's dysfunctional, not really our fault, mostly "fun"'s. Whoever started it decided to make a huge pit, and from there the silliness got sillier. It doesn't matter, it's fun anyway. We aren't playing to win, there's no win condition anyway.

I seriously don't understand how people can stand such vertical fortresses. I mean, really.

Well yeah, I admit that even I find it confusing sometimes, but maybe I can help you understand it all. On the lower middle part is the great Hall of industry: there, our masons and metalsmiths shall one day work for the greater good of the fortress. To the left and right, there are two rooms with magma tubes below, which will house our furnaces and glass furnaces. Directly to the north, there is Big Cheese's future office, with magma tubes embedded in the walls and the Great Chain of Industry, an artifact chain made by Duh. Above it, one day, will sit my quarters and dining room. To the west, our airlock chamber is located: through ingenious use of waterwheels and screw pumps, it can keep an open way out into the ocean, while keeping the water outside. To the east, lies the base of our future magma reservoir, the heart of the fortress: as soon as it's finished, we will drain the magma pool into it. On the upper levels of the pit, we will build great lodging, leisure and farming. Later, a huge underwater cave will be built, and inside it, in an upside-down building, will be located our prison, complete with lever-activated supports to sink the whole thing if necessary. Over the water level, a great lighthouse will be erected, along with a chained titan on top of it, to watch over the whole wasteland. And that's as far as I know. If you want to know about stuff outside the pit, better ask Duh or Geti.

Wow, There are some serious issues with the jobs. there are actually some dwarves that have no job, not even hauling, and they aren't dorf'd people...or children

apparently the outpost liasion has some serious fishing skills. like, three levels down from legendary 1

Does anybody have any suggestions for some hard labour I could put these suckers through? I gave them hauling and half have no job. Perhaps some mass engravement?

anyone wanna be dorf'd into a legendary champion?
