Wiki vandalism
Seriously, guys, this is getting ridiculous. http://wiki.datarealms.com/wiki/index.p ... on=historyLook at that. Well over five hundred uncorrected spam edits on a fairly important Wiki page (the only reason, so far as I know, anyone uses the wiki is for lua docs). We need competent wiki administrators and support for bot blocking.

Re: Wiki vandalism
Methinks our DDoSer is getting desperate.

Re: Wiki vandalism
This has been going on for months. Daman corrected some of it but I think he needs some wiki plugin to prevent the permanently.

If someone is already attacking the site maliciously, I see no reason why they wouldn't just go for broke. Plus, it's pretty unlikely that two different, unrelated people are attacking DRL at the same time.

Re: Wiki vandalism
we should just lock the wiki from being edited till the DDoSer stops trying.
Edit: if its possible.

Re: Wiki vandalism
If you are DDoSing a site, why would you put spam on it?
Doesn't make any sense. The time you're spending spamming could be used to further your DDoS goals.

Re: Wiki vandalism
I just found porn in alot of the edits. (XTube and the like)
This is the same kind of spam that happens on 4chan.
They are probably doing anything they can to be annoying, like some kind of super-troll.

Re: Wiki vandalism
In case the DDoS eventually fails, or isn't in effect all the time. Such as the one against DRL did and was.

Re: Wiki vandalism
This is pretty clearly just a bot that finds wikis with no registration protection and spams in links to porn. There is really no reason at all that a person would design a bot specifically to spam the DRL wiki.

There is really no reason at all that a person would design a bot specifically to spam the DRL wiki. maybe someone should get onto adding wiki registration protection, maybe make everything require admin approval... for the wiki at least, since it's usually slow to update unless it's in batches, and even then, checking a large batch of updates, it's usually apparent when something is wrong. you know, this one is correct, this one is correct, This one replaces it with a 2-line link to porn, this one is correct, this one is correct, this one is insulting the size of someone's wang, this one's correct, this one's correct, this one might be correct i'll have to double check, this one's correct....... I will admit setting it up might take some effort, but actually moderating it once it gets to that point should be a piece of cake.

Re: Wiki vandalism
We've suggested it a number of times, but as usual, we lack a person to actually go ahead and do it.

Re: Wiki vandalism
That's what the wiki used to be, and nobody went to it. Still hardly anyone goes to it now. And turning off editing still requires somebody to actually go in and do so.

I used the wiki from time to time for offsets, and for 80% of my bugs. I stopped asking for help and started going to the wiki, trouble is, I stopped modding for so long. as for disabling the wiki entirely, that's easy without 'someone to actually go in and do it', just re-name it so it 404's, as long as at least one person has access. and I didn't mean this very instant, I meant like, when weasel gets around to it... I'm pretty sure he at least knows how to tell the wiki that it can't be edited by anyone.
