just remove the black pixels. paint whatever exact colour the cloak body is over them in each leg frame.
the clone paths are a bit... wierd. they're very smooth and deliberate, but it also seems kinda lethargic. I think it'd be a good idea to write your own up, search for roon3's tutorial on them.

Never really digged the clone paths, I think they were designed for them so they could climb through absolutely anything!

Thanks Geti, you are my source of knowledge on this one, maybe one day I can help you with something, or draw you something stupid.

As an (almost) expert on Final Fantasy (Not just black) Mages, I believe I could offer a few suggestions for spells. Some were non-black magic, but still awesome. These are just my favorites, keep in mind. Enemy skills rule. I tried to put in videos for as many as I could.

FF7-
Beta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN_02H_se8I
Trine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFMB1eWxrYA
Matra Magic (Couldn't find a good video)
Quake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwQfEkDXE80
Shadow Flare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugdIxFq1ur0

FF8-
Meltdown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7LSRvPAAqY
Pain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7LSRvPAAqY
Tornado http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go1utZ05 ... re=related
Demi (No video)

FF9-
Doomsday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HM7kgvbr2E
Frog Drop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI-FHAMC4g0

FF10-
Ultima (No video)
Nova (Again, no video)

Sorry if this post seemed irritatingly organized, but i felt the need to separate games.

I agree, I feel that with a bit of work movement in CC could be a lot more usable. Ah well, something for the content devs to get onto.
We'll see, I'm more likely to ask you to do something mindbogglingly boring, like cutting out sprites :P I'm all for stupid drawings too.

Feel free to consult me for any knowledge...I have nothing better to do...kinda bored...

Edit: Also, after another look at your mage, I feel it would be better looking if it were dressed like Vivi, or any FF9 mage.

Images hurr.

Cheers Benpasko, I'll be sure to ask you for opinion :P The original black mage had a cloak, which is what I'm going for, but I will make sprite variations.

I played like every FF ever, and I'll say I hated 9's visual style. Definitely keep to the old school black mage.

Hopefully that helps with some visual references.

My personal favorite was FF Tactics' representation.

I think that FF9 had the coolest black mages, and for Cortex Command, they'd be the most interesting looking.

Spells : I think the best would be Bolt,Poison,Ice Shard.
Bolt - Lightning Bolt comes down from the sky where you shot the marker.
Poison - A ball, blob or skull with some type of purple or green aura around it that hurts the actor when the aura touches them and does like 15-30dmg on contact.
Ice Shard - A sharp Icicle that gets shot at a fast speed and tears through unarmored actors with ease.

Blood : Grey - Dark Grey Metal.

Sprites : Make the mage look more menacing. I'm not sure how you could do it though, mabey a staff or wand.

FF9 was done in a very super-deformed style art. CC isn't a shining example of anatomy when it comes to actors, but I don't think child-sized black mages would be cool.

Staves and wand are menacing to you?

Anyway, I think Tactics is the best reference. It's got the full collection classic black magic aside from Ultima.

First of all, staves? Whats a stave? Also if it was a black or dark grey petal staff or something it would make him a little more menacing.

Even if English isn't your first or even second language you can learn the meaning of unfamiliar words by looking at the context or googling it/looking it up in a dictionary.

Have a good day!

@LowestFormOFWit Cheers for the page! You strike me as a very sobering (but sattire) individual so I'll be sure to ask for an opinion on a few things later on.

@JoesyCop Thanks for the blood opinion, I think I will be using gas leaks and smoke emissions similar to that of when ships are wounded! Obviously much smaller gas leaks. Like I said before though, I will be doing spells that aren't godly!

I will be redoing these sprites and changing them into the FF9 evil clones, but I will also be keeping it real by having the same clone and perking the walk paths and gibs.

I am not going for the menacing approach on the original black mage, if you've had a little go with him, you can see his fruity little cape flap with the tinkly emission and the cheesy music playing when he starts to fly, that is FAR from menacing.

As for now guys, production will be much much slower, my girlfriend is over until the 11th of April.
I guess when she is doing some work I can occasionally code but I can't just pump out things like this in two days right now :-(

Pretty cool idea. I've always loved the black mage. I hope this all works out.

Might want to clean up the sprites a little bit. I can tell it's a black mage, but the stance is odd, and the head-shoulders are too.
