gotta say, I agree with this fella edit: Naruto43 wrote: yeah the idea is you need to build up a userbase before you can allow the more sarcastic conversation to carry on like it does in places like SA and facepunch I agree with pretty much all of this except for the idea that we're in decline. I just don't see it; some kind of neat mod comes out pretty much daily, at very least weekly. As far as I'm concerned the heart of CC is modding, with the forum being secondary, but I understand I'm in a minority with that, so I should probably stay out of the politics.

yeah the idea is you need to build up a userbase before you can allow the more sarcastic conversation to carry on like it does in places like SA and facepunch
this isn't a general discussion forum like SA, and there isn't a huge audience like facepunch
so he has to attract kids to the forum, and regular people for it to gain popularity before anything like a constant joke party can go down
seems like pretty basic marketing, gg.
maybe if datarealms had something to attract people(like active modders who aren't GoodOldBoys or an actual game release) that would happen instead of the steady decline present

I also seem to be having problems attempting to connect to the server.

Re: IRC is no longer... a thing
Scancode told me he was going to update to the latest IRC version and try to get services online, so that might be the problem. I didn't touch anything else.
When he comes online I'll ask him what's up.

Seems to me as if too much goes on behind the scenes and you're the metaphorical messenger.

Is one of the reasons why we simplified the structure around here and limited who had access to what; too many things changing... However, since IRC is no longer under my watchful eye, I told Scancode to go nuts; it doesn't matter to me what happens to the server

Well if he decides he doesn't care about it, suggest to him that he turn over control of IRC to someone who does.

Kelas: if you ever get them to hand you over Mod status and you get the IRC running let me know.

Re: IRC is no longer... a thing
So how do I find the super-secret trapdoor entrance to the IRC again? Does it still even work?

Re: IRC is no longer... a thing
The IRC channel continues to not exist. You will have to use the other one linked in off topic chat.
