High five hundred.
I gotta try the partial print thing, it sounds useful.
Finally, why do we have coins? They are as useful as an glassmaker in a map with no sand.

Don't ask me, I'm not the one who minted them. But I think it must be because we can then make a ton of them and brag about being rich as ****.

EDIT: Also, what do you guys think about this embark location? It's 4x4, has got a river and a magma pool:

Coins were recommended by the economic adviser for dwarves to be able to buy stuff.

Map looks good, honestly the reason I wasn't too ecstatic about the last game after my turn is the whole economy thing, I didn't know how to play it. That and I didn't have enough time to make my lava falls =\

Oh, and could we extend the time to play to two days? Seems like some people were getting a bit pinched with just one day.

isn't it just "how far you can get" in one day, not "one game year" in one day?

also, I'm up for grabs if you need players, but i'm not a very good writer, and not a very good player, so if I go you get bonus problems of trying to clean up my ♥♥♥♥.

if possible, i'd like either day of the weekend, but this week is spring break so any day will do.

Dwarves don't need coins to buy stuff, despite anything that such noble might be saying. As long as you don't mint any (or keep all of them locked in an innacessible vault), your dwarves will simply use a credit card-like tab/bartering system, except they will not need to haul all those coins around and spend less time shopping than working.

Suggestion accepted. Since we don't have as many players as the original sparkgear, this might help the game flow at a more steady pace and make it easier for people to fit it into their timetables.

So lemme see... My turn starts today and ends on monday night (here in GMT - 3:00), Duh will have tuesday and wednesday, and alpha gets thursday and friday. How about that?

Sounds great. I believe we shall have fun with glass this time around, with sand and the possibility of magma furnaces.

If possible, aim for underground water next time, so we can make us some tower-cap farms. But this one sounds pretty good.

Newsflash:

Fortress going well, first caravan has just arrived, but no migrants yet. Secret megaproject also on schedule, though with a few minor accidents. Alpha, one of our miners, got caught in a cave-in, fell three z-levels and broke both arms, neck, nose and most of his fingers. He stayed unconscious for a few minutes, and then went back to mining with all body parts back to white damage level. Geti was also knocked back by three cave-ins, suffering no injuries at all. On the fourth one, he got unlucky and broke his spine. He then snapped it back in place and started digging even faster than before. For some reason, I think our dwarves are a bit unusual...

Clearly we have zombie dwarves.

Have you found the lava pool yet?

Oh yes, we are also churning out glass at full speed. The main problem is that, with one glassmaker, one sand collector, one weaver (for the sandbags), one mason to build with the glass and a planter/brewer to keep everyone alive, we got only two miners, so it's a bit slow when it comes to the massive amount of digging a megaproject requires.

Yeah, I kinda noticed that mistake, it was corrected just after I took that screenshot. Also, after some time, so many caveins started happening (Alpha managed to break his ears once ), that I had to set [CAVEINS = 0]. Both miners are already legendary, superdwarvenly tough, ultra-mighty and all that, but the project is going excruciatingly slow. I hope to have at least the above-ground part when I hand the fort over to Geti.

Why are there so many cave ins? I thought they could only happen because of poor planning.

You aren't building a cathedral to Armok, are you?

Well, yeah, I kinda made some badly-placed channels, and dwarves have this tendency to dig in erratic patterns when presented with multi-level digging sites, many times causing unsupported cave sections.

Oh. Erm, when I hand the fort over to Duh, I mean.

And I'm not building a cathedral to Armok. I am building for no gods, no kings, only dwarves. I am building something different. I am building the impossible. I am building... Machineshimmers.

(That's the name of the fortress, just so you know.)
