In all honesty, I didn't really like the plant thing and am surprised it has so many votes.

Sometimes I wonder why there is a theme at all, and why not just have an open-ended contest to judge the best mod made within a certain period of time, be it an actor, gun, mission, etc. That in my opinion would let modders do what they want to do, and thus churn out better work vs. "Well how can I make a Crab cool?".

How about this:
theme: Anything

But really, you people are just horribly spoiled with all yer packs and collections. Back in the older days these mods would have been considered state-of-art collosal projects with a whole fan base supporting them afterwards. You spoiled brats can't appreciate stuff any more, period. Except for Djinn, he's cool.

Sorry but I'm going to have to call you out on what basically reads as:
"Omg you people with LED TV's can't appreciate black and white no more!"

Obviously what was ground breaking material ages ago isn't going to draw the crowds as they did in yesteryear. What kind of nostalgic pipe dream are you looking at?

This is progression of a game and of its modding community, and if you want to call us spoiled because we have a constantly higher standard of mods to spur people to work harder and produce better quality work, than I dare to say you are wishing us to remain sub-par modders forever.

As for Duh's comment, I respect the fact it gives new modders a chance to shine. However, I feel we can accomplish both the goals of producing better mods while still encouraging new modders by making a segmented contest vs. a straight run.

Example:Mod Contest 7
Theme: Gore. The most splattering, gibbing, gut-busting, blood showering mod you can make. Limitation is only that the mod has to be a weapon (HDFirearm, mounted turret, craft with gun, etc.)

Initial Segment: Lasts 2 weeks, etc. At the end of this time, voting is called. Top 3 at the vote are marked and continue to the...

Polish Segment: 1 week for the top 3 of the Initial Segment to fine-tune their mods for final presentation against the other two competitors for top mod in the contest. Final vote is called and winner of these 3 wins the gold for the contest.

Or something similar. I'm sure there's a less complicated way to accomplish what was in my example.

That is actually a very nice idea. A push to make the best concept in the first part, then to develop it into something that's really nice second.

This is actually quite a wicked idea, I approve of any kind of natural selection. I dig it.

Well thanks, now the vote is useless. I guess everybody will have to consider themselves the winner.

To all participants of this contest, you recieve this prize that you may put in your invisible signature:

Joking aside, even with the poll going funny, the entries in this contest were great.
