   |   IRC is no longer... a thingHey dudes,
Data and I were talking and decided that IRC isn't something we are going to support at this time. I'm going to leave the server running, but I'm going to remove the links to it (in a week or two) so you'll have to just connect by memory.

The server will keep running so it's there for future use, so feel free to keep connecting.

That means no moderation, no promises for cordiality, no services. Feel free to move to another network if you'd like to take advantage of any of those features; we are not against fan-run channels springing up elsewhere.

We just don't feel that our current moderation resources are able to provide an adequate amount of channel monitoring to allow new members to have a good experience with it; we'll revisit this decision once we have a bigger moderation team (which means: more forum users, first; which means, new CC release most likely).

   |   Re: IRC is no longer... a thingI don't suppose as a final show of good will to IRC, we can at least get services and elect 2-3 moderators? If it's no longer being officially supported, then you don't really have to worry about it and just let those 2-3 people carry on with it.

   |   Re: IRC is no longer... a thingThe only thing IRC needs is services. My theory is that Weasel is too lazy to fix it and just convinced data it wasn't needed even though nothing's wrong with it.
I always thought you were ♥♥♥♥ useless, but this is a new low, you goddamn ass.

that way the tools will be forced to go to a network that doesn't ♥♥♥♥ suck, like rizon or gamesurge

If you don't officially support it, then why not let a few people moderate it? It doesn't matter if you don't think they do a good job, cause you shouldn't care! Right?

And you are calling them tools? Sad that IRC is going down, I suppose. Too much hate for my tastes.

   |   Re: IRC is no longer... a thing and ninja'd by HK, sentiment remains Services would be nice though. I'm sure some mods will stay around anyway, and we can self moderate, but it seems a little needless to remove anything except direct links.

We can't maintain and support the IRC server with our current staffing levels, so if you want to use services you'll have to go to the fan-run IRC channel (wherever that may be). I hear there already is one setup anyway, with services and everything, for the last month or so.
