S9 Super soldier division
Hi, I just registered here, after lurking the forum for +1 years. After reading a lot I decided to make a mod, I named it S9 super soldier division. It's basically a secret division in the coalition military that specializes in super soldiers, and the advanced weaponry they use. I made a weapon, for them to use, but am not gonna release it yet, until everything is tweaked to perfection, or when I make an actor to go with it. However I will show you guys some pics, just so you can give me some constructive criticism. Thanks ! Added: Super soldier mutant sprite which is WIP Edit: Fixed module icon up a bit

Re: S9 Super soldier division
Why would you make a topic to show a single sprite? Don't make topics that are made to display when you have pretty much nothing to display.
That said, it needs more outlining, or shading, or some kind of other detail. That big gray area makes it ugly.

I'm adding more as I make more... Unless you'd rather have a mod release topic with a crappy unfinished gun in it..

Re: S9 Super soldier division
Making the topic at this point in development was a bad choice is what I'm getting at; you should have waited until you had some actual mod content that you were content (har har) with displaying. Or a bunch of sprites. Or an explanation for a really interesting idea you're working on that isn't impossible.
Something more than "I'm making a faction, look at this single gun sprite."
Not like this thread should be locked or anything, (no need to shut up IF you put up) but I'm just saying, for future reference.

Ok I thank you for criticism. I have actually content I'm working on. All the coding work is done, except for offsets, it's just the spiriting I'm trying to get right before I release anything. By the way I just uploaded a picture of my soldier so far.

Re: S9 Super soldier division
The magnum's barrel could do with some respriting - it lacks shape. The actor appears to be a poorly done coalition resprite - full black outlines and near complete lack of shading being the main problems. The module icon is nearly illegible; the lack of differentiation between the letters in terms of colour being the and most easily slain major culprit.

Thanks. The rest of the soldiers body is what I'm gonna start working on once I get back from school, then Touch ups on his head, and the magnum. I just fixed the module icon, check out the updated version, and gimme your thoughts .

Ahem. This is NOT a coalition heavy re-sprite in anyway. I have coded the actor, and am using these as place holders until I can sprite better xD. Once I am confident the sprites are good enough I will release the mod.

Re: S9 Super soldier division
This is probably the 100000th +/- 100th person that I've seen make a topic trying to get feedback on their (most likely first) sprites.
Every thread like this goes the same way. New Spriter A wants feedback on a (first) sprite(s). DRL Typical Poster X thinks New Spriter A's sprite is an abomination to all mankind. New Spriter A tries to deflect with promises of improvement, begging for forgiveness, apologies, etc. DRL Typical Poster Y thinks New Spriter A is posting work that isn't of sufficient quality for forum, etc. New Spriter A gets bombarded by ngeative feedback, etc, is less inclined to continue, blah blah.
I really think that we should have one separate sub forum under Mod Making for "Beginner Feedback" or something similar. In this section we could open a place up for new spriters/coders/modders to post material for feedback on mods of a beginner level. Possibly a few stickies on the basics of spriting so that they don't keep popping up in each thread like this, etc.
Two cents.

Re: S9 Super soldier division
Your totally right. All these people are "bombarding" me with negative feedback . I bet something you didn't know was that your doing it too by saying that. I don't understand why I even tried to do this, you all seem to really wanna drive people away... After seeing all the stupid crap that went on, for the past year or two, I though eventually you guys would change. After I registered I was determined to become good at modding, and contribute to the community here at Data realms. It all came back to me though, I kept having to say to myself the community will be different this time, they wont flame me for at least, wanting to get better at modding. Another thing that went through my mind, while writing this is; they are probably gonna flame me for saying all this, and find some grammatical error in what I'm saying to Prove I'm some kind of idiot. Well go ahead, flame away.. I will continue to fix up my sprites, because even after all what you said, I'm still determined to contribute, even if you guys will just say "NO DL".

I envy you lafe, after all you've put up with, I'm surprised you are still here on this forum.

I'd prefer you didn't make generalisations to that effect as it would seem that I am included in the set you claim are flaming you. Anyway, the icon is quite a bit better now - you can always improve it later when you have gained some more experience. You might want to give it a magenta background though - transparency also works for module icons.
