Le Gasp! Darlos, adapt this technology immediately. Lagless PD systems... and there goes the salivating.

Re: Reflector Gun + HESG
Hrm. I'll have to take a look. I mean if it's just doing generic proximity checks on all objects (or even just all particles) then I don't see why it'd be less laggy.
Edit: I looked, and it runs through all items and particles, using ShortestDistance() to do proximity checks. This is exactly what I did last time I tried, and it was laggy once things got even remotely particley, especially if you had more than one fielded.
I mean, the thing you have to realize about things like this is, yeah, you probably just have one out when you're messing around. But in the future when we're playing a serious campaign mode you're probably going to want multiple units equipped in this manner fielded at once. Lag will hit hard at that point. This is why I decided to not pursue this too hard anymore, since there's just no good solution. If you want to make something like this mod, you have to proximity check every single object in the game on every single refresh, and that's guaranteed laggy once the game gets going. There's just no more efficient option.
Well, there IS the potential option of cutting down the number of times it runs, but that could get complicated if you wanted to calculate trajectories in order to compensate.

Well, I've never looked into your PDS script before, but mine has a "HitsMOs" check it does before any distance checks are done. Not sure if your shield had that or not, but it definitely cuts down on lag.

Though I think if either that or GetsHitByMOs (or both) is deactivated, it doesn't even show up when you run through the list of objects. I forget the specifics though.

Re: Reflector Gun + HESG
I mean, did he reflect DS gibs, engine particles, the dropship itself? I don't know why using it on the drop ship would cause any problems.
Edit: Ok, tested on a dropship's center under its doors, and nothing really happened. I pointed it at its thruster and it started flipping end over end. No crash (well, the dropship did, but not the game).

Re: Reflector Gun + HESG
Small fix for HESG, no more problems with jetpack (with vanilla jetpack atleast).
Sorry for the bump.
