Yes, this is a mockup and he is too large. Simply a preview.

Sprites already look smextastic, and then this thing is gonna sparkle more than Twilight. It'll be hard to disapoint with this, so don't disapoint us.

This looks amazing, but three problems;

1. The name seems a bit... Fantasy fanfic, if you know what I mean.

2. Needs more tones on his robes, particularly at the bottom. Still WIP, I know.

3. "he is too large." I think the size is perfect, he(?) looks like some sort of awesome necro-streetfighter.

I like the name. Although this could be 'NecroCorp', the rival of WizCorp. Who likes that idea? While WizCorp stayed clean and did only pure magic and shiznizzle like that, NecroCorp chose the ethically questionable of reanimation of the dead. However, I do agree that the robe needs more shading. I think this should steal Zalo's mage code and make him float without any of the crappy leg animating that robes always entails. That would so up the wow-factor.

Also, he means that he's above average actor height.

First off keep in mind that the title of this thread is not the title of the mod. I haven't chanced upon a name yet. I generally shy away from the "Corp", "Inc", company sort of thing when I'm only dealing with a mod that only has one or a handful of actors. I'll figure something out.

Ability-wise, I've had doodles of this little necromancer doing all sorts of stuff but never really acted on any of them. Obviously he'd be able to raise the dead, but I have other cool ideas for him.

I was thinking he'd have an ability that would channel a 'death-energy' looking green/purple cloud-like wavy beam at a target, which would start siphoning their soul or something. After a certain amount of time being hit continuously they'd fall over lifeless and the Necromancer would gain a little floating soul ball thing behind him which he could use to either raise a zombie or save up to use a bigger and badder spell.

My original concept drawing of this guy shows him using 3 little souls to summon up a skeleton giant (yes, Behemoth sized undead!). I'll figure out more stuff as I sprite. The mock-up above was purely for getting a rough look down. The robes aren't anything like what he'll have.

I was going for a more tattered look, which I'll probably animate to flow freely. Also yes, the actor is huge. Unfortunately I was basing his size off of his head size, and I always seem to forget CC actors have HUGE heads. He'll still look cool at 48 px tall though.

Looking pretty sweet, but all the gibbing and terrain settling or bodies will be a limiting factor to your implementation of his abilities.

Leaving him huge like that would be fine in my opinion if he were an important actor, eg brain. But it sorta sounds like you're already set on <48px, so whatever. That could still be menacing.

I suggest you avoid corp/tech/etc names. 'Of Skulls and Souls' sounds more like a mission related to him than a good name for the mod.


My main suggestion to you is that you put some of those dinosaurish fossils to use. I already have an actor version of the tutorial's fossil sprited mostly, if you'd be interested in using that, PM me.

Yes, I was aware of this when he was in the concept stage. Which is why I think I'll be going with the "drain souls to use necro abilities" system. He can take souls and use them later to make zombies, skeletons, bone shields/armor, corpse walls, etc, possibilities are endless.

Well if popular vote goes to leaving him as is in the mock-up at 60 pixels tall vs. standard 48 pixels tall, I am no stranger to big actors that can't enter bunkers. Gives me more room for detail.

Yeah as I said, I just needed a title next to [WIP]. Not sure what I'll call him, but it won't follow that typical faction naming scheme.

That's an interesting idea. I'll definitely take a look at that at least. Really not enough undead mods that act on the undead as a whole vs. all the zombie ones.

My vote goes to large. That way his minions will be able to do his bidding for him inside bunkers.
Also, if you make a corpsewall spell, it has to be called 'Rigor Mortis'.
Actually, the Latin naming scheme could work in general.

Some sort of zombbot-esque resurrection called 'non omnis moriar'? (Not all of me will die)
Would a phylactery be too lich-y?

There is so much cool stuff you could do with this.
I need to brush up on my Latin.

This looks good. Glad to see something not dummy related from you. I love your dummy stuff, but this is a nice change of pace. And yes, I vote large.

I'll try spriting him as a 60 px actor then and see how it goes.
Also, I have considered a lich type actor, but I think my first one will be a generic armored skeleton captain guy, followed by either a giant skeleton or flesh-giant (grossly pasted zombie/body parts everywhere).
