Post Well that's an effective 20oz
Just got the game (15€ well spent IMO) and was messing about in the tutorial level.
I wanted to bring along some crabs and thought "why not go all the way" and spam filled a drop crate and ordered it.

It dropped down killing everything that wasn't nailed down and punching a hole right through the reinforced top of the bunker.

Now I reckon you guys already know about this, but is it normal that a payload that only cost me 20 oz should do so much destruction?

Also, is it often a good strategy? (wipe everything out then order a light soldier with a digger and a pistol to finish off the enemy brain vat)

Well reckoned. And yes, this is imbalanced and free crabs are likely to be removed next build.

It's actually a bug/limit of the game. And yeah, the free crabs will probably go, so don't get too used to Crab-Bombs.

Bit of a pity though if crabs go, though

Shouldn't the crates (and other stuff) have a weight/space limit anyway?

Even though, great fun playing with this bug/whatever, just survived the Maginot mission by only buying crabs, hehe, my CPU wasn't a big fan though.

Props to the physics programming BTW, there was quite a lot of debris and shrapnel before my computer started to slow up, very solid work there...

Yes this is probably the most common tactic that new players discover.

Now try to finish all those missions properly :D

The crafts kinda have a weight limit; if they weight too much they crash on impact/can't fly.

Now all we need is a unit of measurement to tell us HOW MUCH IT CAN CARRY.

Just finished the zombie mission using only tools (repeller and digger), repeller is really good for flying around at stupid fast speeds ^^

Did maginot properly last night, Mauler shotgun came in handy, although the reload time lost me a few dudes.

Any other odd/unconventional tactics and strategies you guys would like to share?

Measure it in crabs.

Craft : Drop Crate
Contents : 2 Crabs, each with 3 pineapple grenades, 2 blue bombs, and 1 grenade.
Cost : 90oz
Tactic : Walking Landmines.

Once they pop-out give them go-to commands to spread them around the battlefield. They will sit there idle until an enemy soldier comes across them, at which point the soldier either crushes the crab or shoots it. Upon death the crab will explode and the succession of exploding grenades creates shrapnel that travels with an extreme velocity. If a soldier is very lucky, they will not be hit. Typically the explosion destroys their gun, and takes anywhere from one-third to all of their health.

These are good for slowing down automatically-controlled AI soldiers, as well as harassing enemies which are on guard. Sometimes they are even good to send into your enemy's base.

Most other unconventional tactics end up being reduced to spam, of some variety.
Like flying a rocket horizontally at high speeds, and skuttling it in mid-air so the level is bombarded with debris. But this crab one is a favorite of mine against friends, as it hinders them greatly in being able to send troops at me in groups without having to monitor them along the way.

You could also throw in a Stick Grenade to detonate the load of bombs in case they don't blow up by themselfs.

Another good tactic is to drop coalition grenades around the map. Any actor that doesn't have a weapon and automaticly picks it up will get blown up by the grenade (due to a glitch) and if they don't pick it up, they might step on it and then blow it up.

Two tactics:
First the tactic that annoys me the most when AI do it.
DIG UNDERGROUND INTO BUNKER that is by far the most annoying.

Second tactic involves loading molotivs and stick grenades into a rocket mk1 and nuking the enemy.
