The robot heads seem too high up.(Robot 1 and Robot 2). They should be moved down a few pixels, methinks.

Dunno if this has been said before, but I think that dropships/rockets need a major overhaul. Right now they're disposable transport, basically overpriced crates, which also function as super OP kamikaze units. I think that they should be waaay more expensive. Like 1000 oz each. Seriously, which costs more, one mass produced unit of canon fodder, or a functional SPACECRAFT capable of escaping the Earth's gravitational field. Their survivability should be increased 100 fold so that they can also function as troop transport and cover.

A really great solution to the jetburst problem was presented to me by Mooseral. Instead of simply getting rid of jetburst, make burst cost a significant amount of fuel. This way you can burst burst burst, but it won't give you the kind of lift or longevity of the current system. At the same time you get to keep dodging and diving and all that cool stuff.

I still fail to see how burst-jetting is a problem.

It could be toned down, maybe, but it doesn't have to be removed entirely.

Jet bursting is going to stay, as far as I'm concerned. It's part of the game, and it makes moving around possible. If Data makes movement far more efficient, then it may be a consideration, but until then, I'm not going to touch it.
And, keep in mind that all the actors in the game (including crafts!) are supposed to be disposable. Drop ships are more expensive because they allow you to maneuver where you're dropping off, can be used for bombing runs, and can also be used as a weapon. They're not expensive because they're not particularly strong. It works out, really.

Honestly I feel quite opposed to your opinions. To reiterate the long discussions of previous threads, nerfed jetpack would make intelligent unit placement more valuable, base assault more tactical and interesting, and valuable units less easy to kill (no lol high speed rams). Ten feet should be adequate jetpack height, indefinite airborne time is ridiculous.
I believe that dropships are far too fragile for transport or bombing runs- a clone filled with frags burst jetting at high velocity is a much better bombing device. I also think that ramming into people with rockets or attempting to crush units by intentionally gibbing crafts are both silly (not in a good way) and overpowered tactics.

But of course, opinions are opinions, and the current state of things has proven to be an entertaining configuration.

If the autocannon got an improvement, then rocket ramming could be sorta avoided.
That and autocannons are relatively useless.

I fully agree with you and I've thought of it myself too. I'm currently awaiting what Data has to say about this amongst a couple other things. CC does need a major overhaul and my opinion on the current stuff is that its all experimental and replaceable or even removable entirely. I'd be ready to do it all as soon as Data finishes the coding on the meta-game and a couple other things so he can return to deal with the content of the game.

to reiterate TLB: don't nerf the only viable movement strategy until you've seriously improved the currently laughably ineffective walking.

I'm with TLB and Grif, I don't think you can ever hope to remove burst-jet capabilities until a more convenient method of basic movement is implemented. However, I'm so accustomed to burst jetting now, it really doesn't stick in my head as a problem.

As Grif said even walking is pretty awful to deal with.

On an unrelated note, I would love it if legs/arms animated differently than using actual frames of animation and more like actual legs/arms with defined elbow/knee joints. Would make for fun ragdolls as well as fix a multitude of other problems.

Not to mention it would make spriting easier.

Sounds like the gostek system from soldat and indeed it would be cool, but the whole actor system would have to be overhauled entirely. As much I love the idea, I doubt Data is willing to do it. In any case it wouldn't be his top priority though. : /

I do agree that walking should be improved if possible to make it more reliable and faster.

It would make actors easier to make, probably improve loading times and mod file sizes, but it removes possibilities.

If you want an actor with accordion knees, you can just do it with the current system, sprites for every angle of the leg. Heck, you can make it change color too!
Even if it would be easier, you can't do that if the thigh and calf are separate sprites.

But, sadly, whatever your opinion, its too late for it now. Data would have to overhaul the game to make it work, and I'm sure he doesn't want to go back and rewrite code, considering he refuses to incorporate GPU acceleration.
It isn't quite as simple as you might think.

Sad. But has anyone actually made an actor using accordian knees? Or any kind of collapse/sink into itself like hydraulics legs?
