It's (almost) common knowledge that Dan doesn't read the forums. He knows the state of things in general, but like Thor always says, he's not entitled to finish the damn thing, besides most of the time the builds he releases contain enough candy to tide us over (Thanks to the time and effort of modders) until the next build.

"I think the amount of aggression to inexperienced modders and the forum's level of exclusiveness is what's causing Cortex Command's forum community to not steadily expand."

Actually this is a good point. When I first saw a .gif of Cortex and asked about it, somebody else commented "Omg that's Cortex Command it's fun but the community is full of douchebags dude don't even bother with them."

As... *ahem* honest as some users are with their feelings, DR really has a crappy reputation as far as the forums go, however exaggerated it may be, and I think this scares away a lot of people. CC had a lot of potential which I think was really smothered and cut short :| I'm not saying it'll die soon, or that B24 will never come, but frankly it seems like a very good idea that just wasn't executed correctly. After all most of the fun of CC comes from usermade mods which, sometimes unbearably, end up slowing down the game... Not a good situation.

I think it's amazing that some people cant fathom that SOMEONE is going to make, say, a golden AK-47. It might have been done before, but its been taboo for so long that there actually aren't many out there, at least not on the first 3 pages of Mod Releases.

Searching...
search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=Golden+AK+47
And checking the first few pages reveals nothing but a golden glock or two, no AK-47s.

If I were, say, making such a mod, I would be eager to post it, thinking that I even checked for another mod similar to mine! Its an original idea!

There are going to be remakes of mods.
There are remakes of movies.
Some are worse than previous versions.
Some are better.

There is no such thing as an original idea.

Golden Ak 47 is located in the minor mod dump.

In my theoretical timeline that has not been posted yet.

People were flaming that guy for posting a 'redundant' mod.

It's mostly the forum. Since the game isn't finished this is the only place to talk, and the community here is a flame-fest full of extremely rude people. Any post will be flamed by someone and that's the reason I don't post anymore but I had to chime in this time.

Also I could've said over a year ago Data seemed to be losing interest in this game, he got his money from sales and from his Indie Festival award, he's run off with it. Simple as that. Talk about a new game is just another nail in the coffin for CC, shame because it's got awesome potential.

EDIT: Here is a few people just asking a question, read the responses:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17503

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17469

Proof this forum is a huge reason why CC is going down. That's a single simple question on one account and a simple statement on the other. Other forums gets a page of answers and feedback with kind extra chitchat to go with it, here you get a locked thread and verbal abuse. Nothing against Seraph, just that's the attitude that's ruining this forum and everyone who is here often gets that attitude scaring off potential buyers and newcomers. Everyone needs to start being polite, I tried and gave up long ago because I'm only one person and a lot of work needs to be done get over the smacktalk 'leet' attitude a lot of people pick up here.

So... why should we allow the forums to be choked by utterly pointless threads (like the ones you indicated) again?
Also, Seraph happens to be one of the nicest people around (along with Duh), getting his job done with minimal fuss and amount of burn victims.

Sigh, so no one gets the point. Does it cost a lot to make one topic? Choked or not try showing decency to people and have a good reason to lock a thread, it's not like anyone is paying by the post/thread. If someone wants to talk let them, isn't that what a forum is for? Verbal abuse tacked onto locking a thread is just uncalled for and done by people hiding behind their PC's.

Oh and I am going out on a limb, but I bet I shall be flamed for nothing now in the next few posts. Typical.

Why get flamed? Unlike those threads you pointed out, your post is not useless, since it points out flaws and recommends improvements. I just disagree that people who make stupid threads about obvious things should be treated nicely.

And I disagree that they should not be treated nicely. Seraph's post in that instance was perfectly warranted, not being mean. True, not coddling, but that's not a great reaction either. A level of common decency should be maintained at least until the OP shows that he or she is not worthy of it through subsequent responses (looking at you Agae).

Perhaps our attitude toward people who don't search enough can be explained like so.
We the regulars find topics such as those on average once or twice a week, asking similar or the same question that has been answered before (which is why most of those topics are definitively answered with a link). The equivalent in a real life situation is being a staffer at a mall info kiosk. All around the mall are maps which you can look at and find your store, but all day people will be asking you the locations of the same five or six popular shops. In both cases, we and the staffer get a bit miffed and long for questions that are a bit more substantial in nature. However, the difference is we aren't paid, and most of us are impatient. We expect our populace to be a bit more intelligent about exhausting other options (such as the dusty search page) before asking us the forum.
