Any more than MSPaint, PSP, or Opencanvas is meant to be a Photoshop replacement. It's just another photo/pixel manipulation software.

Re: Art Dump
Which program can you make the 'oil painting' brush strokes in is what I want to know because Gimp only has circular and diagonal-line brushes. Here's an example of what I'm talking about, the L4D2 art has a really cool style to it where you can actually see the brush strokes as if it were painted with paint. http://williamjudd.com/wp-content/uploa ... scout1.jpg

Re: Art Dump
Try using the paintbrush tool with fade out on. I messed around with it and produced this, which I think is what you're looking for... Brush dynamics will also help you out (especially if you have a pressure-sensitive tablet). Opencanvas is more of what you're looking for if you want a program that's made for it.

The strokes you have aren't really crisp like what I'm talking about, they are blurry with soft edges and the brush is circular while the strokes in the l4d2 art seem to be square. It is a mystery.

Different Brushes, but you are still going to want a tablet with pressure sensitivity, otherwise you, sir, are ♥♥♥♥

Custom-made square brushes with fade and circle brushes (not fuzzy) demo'd: tinypicAgain though, you probably want OC, an environment specifically tailored to painting. And a tablet is a must if you want to do anything serious.

Re: Art Dump
You can get all sorts of realistic media brushes for GIMP. Look on dA and various other sites in the resources section.

I suppose a tablet is probably what's behind the awesomeness...oh well. WIP demented Batman I'm not a fan of cell-shading but I needed to do this fast. :/

His muscle structure and hands are weird because he's the gad damned Batman.
And I have to finish it by tomorrow.
Actually I will redo the abs.

Re: Art Dump
Woo, I made an art! I don't normally do computer art, and this is the only thing I've done, in recent memory, besides sprites. I might color it, but the paint bucket tool in Flash is counter-intuitive, and I don't have a tablet. And yeah, I used Flash.
