Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies -- Updated 12/20/09
Bundle-O-Ideas: -Maybe you could add some sort of secondary fire to the Electro-laser that sprays a mist of electrical particles that stuns almost everything in a short distance from the position sprayed?
-I believe the Yuurei should have a Faraday Cage suit type since it seems to get stunned by its own knife special at times, and since stun is such a good method of sneaking about a base and eliminating enemies.
-Possibly a secondary fire for the Cryo gun that fires an ice spike that sticks into enemies torsos and moves them with it sort of like the harpoon gun?
-Also the ability to equip weapons to the Yosei so it can be used for multiple purposes like assassination or bombardment other than only scouting?
P.S.:I didn't just think up these because I think you'll read them, but just because I cant stop thinking up ideas for pretty much anything I find very interesting.

Loving the new weapon look quite a lot. Nice update. Turret weapon sprite's look weird though, the belts are pretty meh.

I like the new sprite looks, but I'm having problem with crashes. The last crash I remember happening was when a turret was destroyed.
It makes it hard to enjoy the mod if I can't play a full match without the game crashing on me. Please fix.

Not really interested in this. Not sure why this happens, it shouldn't find itself. The Yuurei doesn't get special resistances though, since it would interfere with the active camo. Shapeshifters wrote: -Possibly a secondary fire for the Cryo gun that fires an ice spike that sticks into enemies torsos and moves them with it sort of like the harpoon gun? Well then how would that work when the underslung version already uses secondary? Shapeshifters wrote: -Also the ability to equip weapons to the Yosei so it can be used for multiple purposes like assassination or bombardment other than only scouting? Eh, maybe. Also, you know you can tap to do a short jump, right? Kyred wrote: I like the new sprite looks, but I'm having problem with crashes. Foa wrote: Okay, now the grenades ( from the GMG ) hate me, they are ALL BLOWING UP IN MY FACE!!! I honest to god have no idea why you're having this problem. I mean, it must not be detecting the person firing it for some reason, but I can't imagine why. Are you moving super-fast when it happens or something? @Hyperkultra: I really don't know how to map mouse buttons at the moment, at least not easily. And I have a many-button mouse, but I just use the mouse's mapping software to map buttons past MB3 to keyboard keys, since that tends to make mapping for all games a lot easier.

For some reason, when I use incendiary grenades and the flamethrower, my brain catches on fire and just dies. Anyone else have that problem? (Also the Yuurei can't wall-jump any more and it makes me sad. )

@Darlos Yeah I know short taps make shorter jumps. The jump is always at a 45-ish degree angle, though, unless I'm sorely mistaken somewhere. By lunge I meant crouch + jet with a normal jetpack, or a barrel roll low to the ground.

I cannot fly with anyone anymore. They rocket into the sky, and then have absolutely no upward thrust no matter how much I hold the button or repeatedly tap.

HyperKultra, the only effective way is to use GlovePIE (Google search) Use something on the side like X as the secondary key, then in glovepie put: Key.X = Mouse.XButton1 XButton1 is your 4th button, this links it so that it triggers X when you press the 4th button, I use them all the time so I can have the melee key on space. Found the page of the download: http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie_download

MidnightMuffin wrote: I cannot fly with anyone anymore. They rocket into the sky, and then have absolutely no upward thrust no matter how much I hold the button or repeatedly tap. That's because I think tap-jetting is completely ♥♥♥♥ retarded. Why in gods name have a limited jetpack supply when you can just tap-jump infinitely? Also, protip: All units jump now, in addition to any jetpacks. So if you don't want to go too high, just tap the jump/jetpack button for a quick hop. The jump basically takes the place of the initial burst you would normally get from a jetpack, but disallows further bursts while airborne. Also, the jetpacks produce upward thrust just fine. It's just not the "go rocketing to the top of the map on a whim" level of thrust that I'm sure you want, which I'm not giving you. I mean, the Oni's jetpack is pretty much there just to give you some horizontal movement. As for the Tengu, load it more lightly if you want to fly around all over the place. Foa wrote: Dude, I am standing the ♥♥♥♥ still, I arm and fire, AND BAM, I DIE FROM THE EMP PARALYZING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIREFIGHT I really can't help a problem that only you're having. Constantly complaining about it is getting a bit spammy. I mean, the grenades essentially don't work any differently than they did in the last version. The proximity trigger code is literally the same. I don't know why it's broken for you now if it wasn't then. Have you tried re-downloading? Also, are you firing while enemies are nearby? Also, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try to figure out something for mouse controls. I'm sure it's possible, I just haven't put any effort into it. EDIT: Instructions for the Tengu, Oni, and Yuurei in the first post have been updated to be more accurate and comprehensive. Look for the sections in parenthesis, below each unit's description.

Okay, there are incendiary grenades, and then there are incendiary grenades. These are the latter. I mean screw the BFG-9000, an incendiary grenade machine gun with an under slung missile launcher?!
You just made Christmas come early for some of us.

You just made Christmas come early for some of us. This makes me glad. Also after making the grenades I realized how ridiculously powerful they are, which is why the ammo pack costs more, heh. You have to drop at least 850 gold to be able to fire the things (for Oni, Pack, and Weapon). I realized while modding that the Oni and their weapons need to just take a turn for the completely ridiculous, and this is the result. Also in general, my faction is less of a stealth faction (since I separated the old Shinobi into the Tengu and the Yuurei) and more of a "tacticool" faction, which can lend itself to stealth, but not always. Also I've kinda realized that I might have balanced the grenades wrong. Right now the grenades you fire from guns are half as effective as relative hand grenades. But I thought about it and realized that a 40mm grenades should have about 1/4 the power of 80mm hand grenades. Some rebalancing is in order there. EDIT: Well okay, I guess the hand grenades wouldn't be 80mm... more like 60. So I guess current balance is alright.

You know every time I see an update for this the 2 minutes it takes to download this is longer than the weeks I spent waiting for it.
