Post Re: Time to Riot - Devlog reveals the truth about optimization
I bought it as it was fun, and overlooked the fact OF EVERY GAME I HAVE EVER OWNED, IT IS THE SLOWEST AND CLUNKIEST (and considering it is 2D and has no online multiplayer at all... seriously what the ♥♥♥♥)
because I expected him to take advantage of more than a fragment of the CPU.

If I had known he had never planned to do anything other than clean up his code, I would not have bought it.
20 bucks buys a professionally made game (I love Steam) which has better graphics, nearly as much modifiability, just as fun gameplay and doesn't constantly lag.

As true as that might be, I really like the creative direction behind CC, and the wackiness of it. I bought it so I could play longer games of it, and that must say something; but I suppose if lag is such a huge issue for you and it (apparently, assuming you've tried the usual countermeasures) hates your computer, such an opinion should be expected.
Better graphics is in the eye of the beholder, unless you're looking at some of the more recently developed vanilla effects/device sprites.
And besides, we havent seen how fast CC can run yet, once its optimised we can all judge away but as it's currently in development, one shouldnt really expect it to be running at full capacity.

I have two computers, one with four cores and one with two. They both run CC at the same speed. I was really hoping DRL would change this
Anyway, it's still an awesome game; I don't get why people keep on saying they are wasting their money. You didn't buy the game for graphics acceleration, did you?

No, we bought it expecting a 2D game wouldn't run like the equivilant of Crysis on our computers.

I bought this game 'cos I just wanted to support Data. And it doesn't bother me, if the game have 1000-core processor support or not, even through I use Core 2 Duo.
I'm playin CC for approx. 4 yrs (may be a little bit less) and I'm still excited. No, I didn't said it is the only game I play. But for that fun I received and especially for the great, truly awesome idea I guess Data deserves for my 38 bucks.

You guys are both idiots if that's the reason you bought the game. Data himself said that all you're doing is supporting a project that might not even be finished ever. You didn't buy a game when you bought CC you donated that money to Data because you like the game and you want it to get finished. He didn't give any guarantees for anything or has ever said that he will code the game to take advantage of GPUs or magic pixie dust. There's a reason you get 5 minutes of ♥♥♥♥ where you can try out the game.

I never said that's why I bought it. I bought it because I loved it, and wanted to be rid of the bloody time limit. I EXCPECTED it to run well however, not like it curently does.

I see a lot of mac-hate on these forums, so I thought I'd just throw this out there: Cortex Command works great on my MacBook Pro. All of you can suck it.

Yeah, but you have no ther games besides CC. Now then, go ahead and suck it right back.

Consider that it could run a thousand times better if it was optimized.

Also, I see alot of mac users on these forums, so I though i'd just throw this out there:
I can right click on my PC. All of you can suck it.

Anyways, if Data says he isn't willing to do so, then he is a lazy ♥♥♥♥ and hopefully, one magical day, a member with great knowledge of optimization will join out community and revolutionize CC as we know it.

SPORE would disagree. Crappy? Yes. Childish? Yes. Addictive? Yes, again.
Also, p3l, it's 6 minutes of ♥♥♥♥, tyvm. With unlimited time on the tut map.

Now everyone, calm down. CC is not so heavy in matters of CPU speed, and can run with onboard graphics. Sure thing, it requires an immensurable bucketload of RAM, but I guess we could all agree that such part is one of the cheapest ones to upgrade. To illustrate my point, I did a little experiment. I have two computers. One is a desktop with 256mb video, 1.6 dual core CPU and 2gig RAM. It runs CC at an average speed of 0.2, according to Ctrl+P. The other one is a notebook with 256mb video, 1.6 SINGLE core CPU and 3gigs of RAM. It runs CC at an average speed of 0.9. A difference of merely 1 gigabyte means an increase of 0.7 to CC's speed. Both computers have the same mods installed, run the same version of Vista and have similar memory usages.

tl;dr: Stop whining and go buy some RAM. And be grateful that you don't even need a GPU to run CC.
