I need help with editing sprites, there will be rewards.
Hello. I have a problem which I just can't fix. I'm trying to modify some sprites and I know what i'm doing works for XP computers but I have a mac. I do exactly the same thing I did on an XP but with a different editing software for mac, and I saved the edited version of the sprite as the same file as the original, a BMP. But cortex command still fails to find the sprite that I've edited. Rewards will be loads of hopefully good mods on the forum, thankyou....

Make sure it is the correct format of BMP, and that it is keeping to CC's palette.

What program are you using? If all else fails you could just get someone here to do it for you I guess... By all else I mean trying GIMP.

Failing to load is probably a code problem, whereas displaying wrong would be a palate problem. Microsoft and Apple have implemented different versions of BMP, and while on a Mac I can load both and make both, Cortex Command only understands the Extended windows version. It's a bit ironic, because it's supposed to be very device-independent. GraphicsConverter can fix it. Here, http://www.lemkesoft.com/content/193/key-features.htmlAs for loading, make sure the files you are calling have the ever-needed triple-digit number following the name, that's what gets me.

Re: I need help with editing sprites, there will be rewards.
I'm sorry to necro this threat horribly, but I'm having the same issue. I also use a Mac, and I've created some images in Photoshop, tried saving them using it, Pixen, Preview and GraphicConverter. When saving with Preview, CC cannot read/find the images at all. Pixen causes the colors to be heavily distorted, as does GraphicConverter, albeit distorted in a prettier way. I'd love to create my own things for CC, but this is a major hindrance. Is there anyone I could talk to about this problem? Should I scrap all my images and start again from scratch, or if I attempt to re-save the same images from multiple applications, will it automatically work. I was reading about a palette, and it's making it seem like I'll have to start again from scratch. Thanks

sounds like your sprites are not made with the CC palette colours. you cannot use any of the colours that are not on this palette or they will not load/mess up http://filesmelt.com/downloader/palette1.bmp
