Re: [WIP] DSTech Corp (UPDATED: 5/22/09)
Hm... how much space is there between each glow particle (I assume that's your method), and what's their lifetime? If that isn't laggy, then maybe I just need to tweak mine a bit.
Also, CastObstacleRay should always return a value. It's just that if it doesn't hit anything, it returns a negative value. So you just check to see whether the return value is negative or not.

Pulsed lasers pulse so fast that they'd look solid to us.

Which I already did. A great example of why I get consistently burned by people when I tend to say things on my own terms... Gotta fix that.Duh102 wrote: DSMK2 wrote: [fired at an angle] I meant does the rapid-fire one look like one single beam when you wave it around, or does it look like a pulsed laser? Solid. Some fading, but solid overall.

The beam rifle videos look very interesting. Although, I would have to agree to (slightly) cut down on the terrain rape. Hyperkultra wrote: Except the Section 8 guys are total wusses compared to DSTech. I would have to partly disagree, with that whole 'get shot out of a dropship at high altitude and hit the ground fighting' bit, which is pretty nifty. I don't know if DSTech units could survive that kind of impact force upon landing. If they could, that would take away some of the cool factor of the Section 8 guys and give said cool factor to make DSTech even cooler. And this whole 'drop troops from high up' bit has got me with images in my head of Halo ODST style drop pods, except for DSTech robots... canned death, express delivery, contents only deadly to the opposition (unless a drop pod accidentally lands on a friendly unit...)

Also, the first to come up with drop pods was Starship Troopers, if I'm not mistaken (or was it just the power armor?).

Re: [WIP] DSTech Corp (UPDATED: 5/22/09)
Oops, my bad. I forgot about the fact of finding out the Plagiarius having the little 'invisible rain of death' thing after the time it was apparently splatting stuff into the ground at high speeds... I never got around to testing their 'launch into ground at high speed' capability after fixing that little problem. So, no, not ignorant, just a little absent minded.

Re: [WIP] DSTech Corp (UPDATED: 5/22/09)
... The plagiarius is not meant to be used for troop drop-off. Its sprite filename is "Abductor", which is what it is meant for: the abduction and subsequent sale of mostly unwilling units.

Too bad it's hard to control. DS, could you make it switch the team of whatever actor it grabs? That would fit in rather well with the name.

Load it up with about 50 Big Bombs from Shook's Pack o' Stuff, then get out of its way.
