Yep, that'd be the solution. Now I'm thinking of taking advantage of this.

a simple check like the one darkstorm uses to check the shinobi knife and if the target is grounded,

They do what now.

Oh, that was probably a typo, I meant the check in the shinobi script that checks if the target is grounded when you use the knife.

Once again, the Shinobi does what now?

Oh, I see, with the shinobi when you use the knife (X or V I think) it's meant to electrocute the target if it's on the ground like the stun gun does. It dosen't work perfectly but works every so often, it only makes a particle that makes the enemy lose control for a while.

Hyper, one can't get electrocuted if they're not touching the ground. Or something that conducts electricity (like a plane). And the Shinobi use an electroshock knife, IIRC. Do the math.

O_o
I would check your science there. Ex: Tasers. You can definitely get tasered no matter where you're standing.

Yeah, but those form a closed circuit, that's why tasers have two electrodes. If you touch an electric fence while standing on an insulating material or mid-jump, you wouldn't feel a thing.

This would vary depending on the construction of the fence and the particular resistance of your body. If you used both hands, and the path formed by your hands, arms, and torso, had less resistance than the intervening fence section, then you would still get electrocuted. Also, if the fence were constructed such that alternating strands of wire were opposite polarity, then you'd also be dead. And anyway, weren't we talking about the electroknife in Darkstorm? That's pretty much a taser in knife form. I would imagine it would have contacts of both polarities...

I was just explaining what the Shinobi were supposed to do now. If they are tasers in knife form, then Sam's (or Darlos', whoever came up with this) plan goes down the drain.

I think the electroknife is supposed to act like a taser, so... Yeah.
Anyway, either way it doesn't make much of a difference. They can just change the science to make the weapon work.

Tasers are closed circuit. Huh...

I supposed that could save me some code, lol. I'd still have to do the grounding check for my electrolaser though. (Kinda hard to make a closed circuit plasma channel... I think)

Couldn't you just fire two or more lasers, slightly apart?

That would rely on both streams remaining whilst the shock was made, so you'd need the beam to be very fast or make it last longer. Either way grounded-circuits are easyer and cheaper.
BTW: Isn't there a suppesed problem with the shinobi knife shock parcticle, I recall a few casses of it killing your own brain when stabing.

I'm completely retooling my mod right now, including the way scripts and objects are arranged and defined. Should be much smoother and robust.

Though if brains keep dying (hasn't happened to me yet) I'll have no clue why.
