Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
Um, pretty much what everyone else said. Seems like a pack of first mods, mostly. Many of the sprites had incoherent styles and seemed spliced together (poorly) from vanilla. Seems like time constraints killed you guys. I'm sure these would be excellent if given a little more time.
Dracula was kind of neat, I wish he had a bat sprite and could pick up weapons. Skeleton launcher thingy was hilarious. Too much recoil, though. Undead elephant thingy was kind of neat, if only to look at for a couple seconds before it dies. Zombiebot gets props for not being significantly terrible in any way. Oh yeah, Bob is ok, I guess. Pretty unremarkable, though. Balding Gordan/Heavy Coalition guy with meh weapons.
Vote would go to Dracula, I guess.

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
The plasma zombie was cool, but turns boring after 30 enemies for me...
My vote goes to DragonBallZombies, originality its the key what many entries of this contest requires, also I loled when my Samurai made a kamikaze dash agaisnt a dreadnought and the only thing 2 seconds after was just a flying sword xD

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
I voted for defnitely better zombies, mainly for the wraith. But otherwise because it was generally more polished than the rest. The dracula and the plasma ghost were also highlights.

Well, damn, guess I should've entered, judging by the current lack of quality.

Aww darn, the colossus was gonna be epic, to bad it wasn't finished. :( Oh well. The readme is broken, here's a working one (just change .bmp to .txt).

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
For future competitions, I was wondering if these forums allow hiding poll results until it finishes?
Edit: Oh yeah they don't. They should though.

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
Similarly to Grif, I wish I had made my army of the undead crabs mod. Would have been mediocrely epic, but it might have won by the looks of it.

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
If you both had done something maybe we could have some actual competition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mostly the entries were lacking polishing or were just plain bad resprites.
Plasma Zombie? Wat. Pretty awesome, altough a bit OMFG RAEP and ocassionally dying at random. It also felt like it was just a great use of Lua and whatnot, but was just slapped with a zombie sticker in order to make it legit for the competition.
The pentagram-thingy Invocation made was cool and impressive, but way too slow and the explosion was pretty anticlimatic.
Riot zombie was pretty cool but its atomgroups and whatnot were off bad. I think hulk/tank style would've been a bit better.
DBZ was a bit better of the bunch. The sprites weren't that bad, but the real point was wraith. Too bad the possession was wonky and the thing would constantly fall to the center of the earth. The samurai thingy boost just felt like a secondary jetpack. And the last skeletonzombiewhat was just armed with hilarious sniper rifle and over 90 gibwoundlimit.
Zombiebot felt intuitive and the activities were tough, with vanilla atleast, but the thing was pretty rough around the edges, and kept spamming my console.
Dracula was interesting, but I really didn't grasp the use of the crabmode, and it could have used some actual sprites too.
I didn't really get what was up with Bob, his different uzi and his chainsaw-digger and 4 random zombies. BUT ATLEAST IT HAD A COOL LUA-BASED BOMB
Colossus had nice sprites, for the several seconds you managed to keep it alive.

Hyperkultra wrote: One of the two that I actually liked was the Plasma Zombie, and it is hardly a zombie at all. Awesome that it is, it really shouldn't be in this contest. The "zombie" nametag and brain sprite were just tacked on so that it would qualify as supernatural. If the author had instead named it the plasma ghost or will'o'the wisp or something it'd probably have been a lot better received. findude wrote: wraith. Too bad the possession was wonky and the thing would constantlyfall to the center of the earth It appeared to be using the same mechanism as the ghost clone, so this is, technically, actually a feature. If you learn use the right combination of crouches and jumps, you will be able to move through terrain without much of a problem.

Re: Mod Contest 5 Voting
Yeah, it's not a very intuitive feature, but here are some tips. Crouch to move down through terrain or enter terrain downwards; don't hold it down too much or you'll fall off the bottom of the map. Jump whilst in contact with a ceiling already to enter it and jump whilst in terrain to move up through it. Rapidly turn left and right to fall through terrain faster. Jump whilst semi-crouching against a door to move through it.
