Yeah, but in the game, it's a artificially sustained brain. The consciousness would still be there, the only complicated thing would be getting the brain to control the artificial body. And again, we have that to an extent today with artificial limbs.

Not the point. He's saying "Good luck putting a human into a computer. You're gonna need it."

Brain bots are robots with a brain attached.
Why no armor?
It's dirt cheap.

When did this evolve into how one would work?

Gameplay wise also, that armored brainbots head is just as fragile as the regs/

Is the brain in its head?

No, it's supposed to be in the body.

It says it is kept in the armoured chest cavity. And it clearly has eyes on the head. So, that stuff can be done. Just too pricey for the basic brainbot.

Then again, it also says it explodes when dying, and I've yet to see that.

It's not even in B23 because even I (the one who made it) will admit that it's pretty lame.
The brain is in its chest cavity under the circular plate, but the plate rarely breaks off. If the brain is actually destroyed (which is pretty hard to do), THEN it triggers an explosion.

Brain-in-a-jar:
1. Design-wise it's a reference to many classic sci-fi scenes, and it makes the theme of the game apparent
2. It can be in reinforced glass
3. Poor newbie can only afford crap robot bodies
4. Maybe the enhanced brain can see things mentally 360 degrees (I don't know about this)

Heck, the brainbot now is already much much more reliable than in B22. In B22 it felt like being built of glass entirely.

You could almost die tripping over a crab in a brainbot.

There's glass that can stop big bullets.

Makes me wonder what non-prospecting brains in a jar are doing. Funny if it actually gets elaborated upon. Though yea, the brain bot right now is pretty much you given the newbie gear that sucks. I'm guessing the glass could be some sort of "transparent aluminum" that's mentioned in one of the older star trek movies...

TO TVTROPES.COM...

Heck the brain jar design pretty much defines CC, won't recognize it without that!

I've wondered the same, DSKMK2. Probably in a big box wired up like mad.

Also, brains are in jars because it's an ancient science fiction tradition. It is both cute and eerie at the same time.

IT DOESN'T NEED TO MAKE SENSE.

I think brain bots aren't made for fight but commanding, being kept in safe buildings/spaceships, so why give them armour? Also the glass can take few hits, so it is bulletproof (to some point). As for the transparency maybe it's useful for um, telling brain's condition?
...
Damn, ok the transparency is useless but it looks cool. Also steel case wouldn't be indestructable too.
