Woah! Thanks for the concepts! This is indeed cooler than my current spriting design... currently it looks like a mud ball with some yellow rope around it. And my drop-seed is ugly. Definitely using this as a guide to spriting.

alright areku. here's some astronaut-inspired people and a really malformed handgun.

Image

I sort of thought the handgun to pivot around that joint there, for reloading purposes. sort of like an over-under shotgun that you crack open, or a BB gun that you have to pump up to charge. most of astronauts' actual gear isn't so much crazy energy technology, just really ingeniously efficient mechanical devices based on simple machines. In a lot of ways it's even cooler than the scifi gloss we put all over most entertainment design, and i kind of failed at balancing the two visually. But the idea isn't completely without merit.

I also got around to editing the OP, there's some extra stuff and explanation there. When writing it i sort of laughed at myself, had to delete a bunch of stuff because it sounded a bit "che guevara". sorry if it gives off that vibe though, i just figured i'd put up more of my reasons to structure the thread the way i did. It's a co-op, i guess. It's not a competition. That's the long and short of it.

Why, that actually looks really damn awesome. The support gunner is specially cool, and the handgun is not nearly as deformed as you say. Sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I'm on a bit of a tight schedule nowadays. Great work, all in all.

Hi, I'm pretty new to the forums. Recently thought that i need to contribute something when i take so much (downloading mods). Here is a link to a pic i drew for a faction that is in the works. http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy115/Freeflow_photo/DSC_0140.jpg?t=1258085536

Forgive me for poor quality/ ignorance unbenownst to me! would appreciate feedback. (i.e:suggestions, tips, ideas, requests for further sketching)

its okay, but the torso is kind of "unaesthetically designed". the legs are cool, but it needs something more interesting.
do some more studies, especially perspective and the like, and study how machines are made (not to mention other robot designs).
also its sad this thread has slowed down, i need some more practice..

Um um I'm hoping this is an ok bump.

I'm looking for inspiration for some sort of space bounty hunter/witch hunter. I've sprited the weapons and they are all revolvers and futuristic pistols (a la Borderlands) so something along those lines- a nice anachronistic blend between wild west and scifi. Religious overtones would be an interesting touch if you could work that in- the name-in-progress/theme is witch hunters. I have a terrible eye for colours so even if the art is in black and white maybe some sort of colour guide? I'm thinking Brown, black, and reddish. Though if you have a different colour scheme that works well that would be great, too.

Also, could it be female? 99% of my human sprites have been female.

Heh, you're better than me in these things so I'll place more bets on you than myself. I'm learning from most of your works ha ha...

I'm not sure if this actually counts as a legit request, but does anyone just want to draw someone in insanely badass armor? Preferably with some sort of gun. Sorry to be so unspecific.

sure, would love to. here's an old piece, doesn't math what you asked for too well, but it will do for now.
