Post External Editors for CC23 in Progress
Hello everyone,

I've been following CC for a while and with the recent developments, I've been sucked away from any sort of meaningful work to focus on a small project I think would be nice. Since CC is a game that earns it's keeps in tweaking, I'm stumped to see no one has developed any sort of external objects builder (or maybe they have, I'm just not digging hard enough!). For years, I've developed my own sort of games and editors, and helped a few projects with tools, such as Infantry Online's Weapons and Items editor.

Would something like this help out? I wouldn't want to recover old ground if it's been done before. I simply want to contribute to this awesome project. Share your thoughts on what could be simplified in mod making, and i'll try to cook something up.

Lastly, Off topic, has anyone noticed Puppy Whirl from The Friend Society in Grasslands? If you have no idea what i'm talking about, see the little drawing at the bottom of the map? Compare to this: http://www.thefriendsociety.com/anim.php?id=puppywhirl&w=400&h=300

Well, a lot of people have been complaining about the lack of an offset editor...

Yeah, offset editor is the thing people'd want most, I'd think. Very nice of you to offer!

Also, yes - the puppy whirl thing is pretty well known. :)

A walkpath editor would be amazing. Also, offset editor would basically do the same thing, so go with the offsets.

Offsets editor would be the most desired around here, but I'd LOVE a working scene editor. One that doesn't force me to fiddle around with an .ini after I've made and saved it just to get it to load.

Also, are you sure you want to work on a B23 editor? Data implied...

Ok nevermind, B24 is going to be a while. Knock yourself out.

you're the creator of that thing what rolls?!! [+500 Respect]
dauss, why not work into a B23 offset editor compatible with incoming B24 ?
I wanted to do it a while ago but nobody have joined to purpouse so it was just a fail.

If you need me, spriter awaiting orders.

There was an offset editor, but I'm not sure how useful it would be. I don't think I have the source code, maybe someone else does. I just have the compiled binary.

Under the VERY likely possibility that Data will change something trivial, completely ruining any compatibility between the 2 builds, (Military 'Stuff', anyone?) I was suggesting maybe holding out until B24 is released. Then I remembered the last time Data implied a build was coming in 'just a weekend.'. There should be plenty of time to build a B23 editor of some kind, and enjoy it before B24.

I doubt it would be such a change that remaking the entire thing would be necessary anyway. The offset editor that everybody wants wouldn't, unless Data entirely redoes the way offsets are handled.

I don't know what will change in the next build but just for the sake of safety I recommend that... people... wait a bit? Maybe a week or two?

Just sayin'

Not that I know anything or am hinting at stuff

Plan B: Can you give some drugs to Data develop team to sloooow down the B24
and then we'll be able to make a offset builder and we'll be happy and we save the day :hat:

Duh, dude that offset editor needs some fixes and obvious graphical improve...

i swear if the only new thing in the next build is floating crabs, and a bundled editor, i'm going to die.

Add optimazations and the ability for CC to utilize a graphics card. Reaction now?
