Re: Mod Hype Thread
No no, it's fully animated. And working.
The individual parts cannot be hit but it's possible to disable the factory. The module it's in is (mostly) indestructible, though.

Rawtoast wrote: Didn't that used to be a gif? I specifically remember seeing a gif of a very neat, functioning dummy factory, though it might have been a different one. Either way, when do you think that one will be up and running? Is it all just a big sprite animation, and if so, what happens when I shoot it?
Edit: Scratch that, just saw the image name. Only a mock up. Must have been thinking of something else.
It's the same one from the old Epic moments thread, as Grif stated. It's coming as soon as Kyred puts a couple last touches on it. We're pretty much seeing a release this week finally. Work on -all- the features won't be complete, but I'm confident what we have is more than release-worthy.

Re: Mod Hype Thread
Nice! How many frames?
What are you doing for gibs? The machinery along the assembly line would be easy enough, but there's still the matter of the dummy moving along the conveyor belt. Could a Lau script constantly change the gib x offsets to synch up with the movement of the dummy?
I suppose the whole thing could just be obscured with enough glows to make none of this matter.

I eagerly await for the factory's completion! BTW, what "features" do you plan to have?

Honestly i would rather wait and have those features the the factory just working like we have seen in the Epic moments thread. Hopefully you can get that computer fixed so we can see it in its glory either way.

Oh dear god. When working on the gun for my crab actor, I learned the importane of "ParticlesPerMinute". For some reason, I had it insanely high for a few variables.
The rest was a gun which shot procreating bullets. Here is the non-attachedtoacrab form:

Hyperkultra wrote: Rawtoast wrote: procreating bullets YGMDL. WELL SHUCKS. Yeah, turns out it was shooting emitters that were shooting off emitters or something. Bady copy-paste scripting. But yeah, this is what I've got so far. Still has a lot of problems: • Very fragile. Having trouble setting it up such that the armor can get shot off before the whole thing just dies. • No unique sounds. • Crap walkpaths. • Need to shade the face and "fingers" a bit better. • The gun is totally uninspired. I'm working on something better, but it's not done yet, so I just gave it the vanilla laser rifle. -Should it shoot lasers or fire out of its mouth? • Not done animating facial expressions. Eyes don't glow yet. • Mask doesn't fit very well. Get rid of it completely? And yeah, I know the rte's really disorganized. Also, next thing to make:

Heh, sorta creepy, as the finger legs do hit that strange uncanny valley there. The overall spriting needs to be darker, as well, shaded better: As in bottom dark, top shiny. The light colors make it seem ripped out of some 60's era chrome metal spam, which feels out of place, might be a good thing though. What sort of faction is this? Some mad scientist organization?

Not everything is a faction. I bet you this is a one unit sorta deal. Raw does that a lot.

Re: Mod Hype Thread
The Spriting is pretty good, although the gun and legs could use a little work on an outline and details. A good WIP overall.
I think that the Heads should fire from their mouth for extra awesomeness.
Still very creepy though.

Re: Mod Hype Thread
Well, I would want to use them as enemies. Burning face with laser eyes on a finger-powered mechanical body is as menacing as things could go. You'd wet your pants if an army of those swarm towards your base.
But I certainly wouldn't use them for myself, they gives me the creeps.
