I also recommend that when you introduce them to it, show them the game with vanilla (default) content only. Otherwise they can be overwhelmed and confused by the amount of content in the build/buy menu.

I disagree with this. If I introduced my cousin to CC without any mods, he'd take one look and think the game is almost empty. Mods amused him. He loved the destruction, the choices, the mayhem! I don't think anyone would be overwhelmed just because you have some extra choices.

Leave the cream of the crop in there for showing people the game, and no factions.
I have seen people get very uninterested after seeing a huge scroll bar.

Actually,I got my friend right here and we just played some cortex command. He loves it. I downloaded so many mods that I had to make a light version, for quick loading, and a heavy version, that has all my mods. We find the heavy version much better,me using the keyboard and mouse, him using the controller. So much fun

Or if you have an XBOX 360, buy a USB controller, then you can use that both for PC and XBOX, it's like a win-win situation.
But I'm probably ignorant and unaware of what you can use the Logitech controllers for or something, I have no idea if you can use that for XBOX, but don't quote me and say whether you can or not because then that'll derail the thread.

I am a PS3 fanboy and I say you should get a PS2 to pc adapter and use a GH III controller to play. It is honestly infinitely better than an 'box controller.

>:C

lol flamebait aside, Logitechs are cool, but if you are going to play by yourself only use mouse and keyboard (or just keyboard). But if you are going to play splitscreen with people a gamepad is a good investment.
Protips on playing against people:
-Buy two diggers at the start. Some matches will inevitably end up being wars of attrition and more gold=more win.
-Go for the other guy's diggers.
-Make sure the battle is going on in the other guy's base. It is easier to deploy attackers than replace defenders.
-Go for his diggers and make sure he can't replace them.
-Don't give your guys two weapons.
-If Dummies, use lots of Dummies with Nailer Cannons and shields. Also fill your base with turrets and use dropcrates exclusively for drops. Remember: Dreadnoughts are not assault units in any sense of the word.
-If Ronin, use shotties in base defense, and build your base around use of shotties. Don't shell out the big bucks, normal Pumpgun ought to do it. Uzi was epic in B22. It's still ok with a shield. Tommy is ok too. Use Gordon for everything.
-If Coalition use Auto Shot Pistol (avec shield) and Heavy Sniper.
-Diggers are basically insta kill and will wreck doors in no time.
-If you want to be a ♥♥♥♥ and you have more gold than your opponent, watch out for when he buys drops, and everytime he does, drop your own empty rocket on the place his drop is going to... Drop. It's kill his drop and if you use an empty, he'll run out of money faster than you.
-Another ♥♥♥♥ move is spamming guys filled with bombs who you use to jetrush any enemies in the other guy's base. Hell, even equip your normal troops with 3 or 4 bombs and jetrush whenever they have low health or have no weapon.

If you play 4 player, it's pretty much the same. The only advice I have is a bad partner is worse than no partner.

Edit: Using a guitar to play CC is the most awesome feeling ever.

Learn that jet-pack. Jet bursting comes second nature to me getting around.

I think he meant to ask: "How the bloody hell can you aim with one of those?"

I have PieGlove if that would help, since it's a microphone-like input you'd need to be able to distinguish pitch, probably imposible.

Yeah I got a PS2>PC/PS3 adapter and I use a Guitar Hero 3 Kramer guitar.

The first four frets are my directions, the fifth is next actor, down on the strummer is fire, up is jetpack, select is pie menu, start is previous actor, and star power is sharpaim.

It is pretty difficult but insanely cool.

Edit: Samohan's idea is way cool, though.
