I have a scale reference sheet you may use for battletech mechs, but the scale you guys are thinking about doing is smaller then a light mech, or so this little scale sheet says... Image

Anything else i may help you guys with? you might need a battletech nerd after all :P

(note; if the image is too large i can crop it and re upload it for a thumbnail to make it smaller, let me know if that is the case with this image)

IMO there are three iconic 'Mechs in the Battletech universe: Timberwolf, Atlas, and Thor. I believe those are required in this mod.

The thor is one of the more... ugly, mechs especially from the side.

something like the uller, kitfox, dragonfly and blackhawk would be good for CC, side view you can tell whats going on with them, same goes for the vulture and timerwolf.

While working on mechs like the atlas/thor would indeed be fun, it would be difficult to make them look good in CC (especially with the toned down scale to boot) while I'm not saying its impossible, I'm saying it would be easier (and quicker) to make the above listed mechs.

just my 2$

Edit: in hindsight those style of mechs would work better in smaller battlesuit like systems, so who knows...

Little bit of progress.

EDIT: Yo, anyone want to donate some sprites for Gundam-sized weapons?

That's missing the Mad Cat MK2, Atlas and the Fafnir along with the Flea. But rest assured you have brought an invaluable contribution to the mod. Those will make spriting much easier. Also, Duh, that Gundam is... well... it's uglier than Hel. I don't doubt your coding abilities (those walkpaths are epic), just the look of Gundams in general.

The madcat mk2/3 is roughly the same as the original timberwolf in overall looks, which is there in the list. i have yet to find a picture that has the atlas or flea in it like the one above, however i am still looking. if i cant find a picture simaler to the one i posted for the requested mechs i will get you guys standard images.

There's a Mad Cat MK3??? Also, standard images will be more than enough, if they manage to present the sides.

yes, yes there is, a madcat with jump jets, ppcs/gauss and other heavy weapons.

mk3 is the one they used in MW4 if i remember, it was horribly powerful for a heavy class mech.

If you need a couple madcat pictures i can post the ones i use for my madcat custom, front and back images should help you

I take no credit for the creation of those images, if you want the original artist/modeler look for the signature in the pictures, i just renamed the pictures so i could find them later if need be

Now THAT is a mech. I'll sprite it in the week-end, with some help from NaXx, if he's willing.

Post Re: Announcing mechwarrior mod!
do you guys mind if i make a request for a separate version of that mech which is much stronger then the others durability wise? :P

im trying to learn how to mod but without the full game its a bit... interesting (as far as i know the full has more features correct?)

Other then that, we might need a specific map with super tough ground just for the mechs... especially a large one if possible (and flat/deep for tunnel networks and underground complexes).

the weapons might get a little interesting, i cant wait to see what you guys do with the LRMs/ppcs/lasers :D
