Agreed with Numgun's above post.
When things randomly explode in the arena, there is just no time to care about the highly unstable powerup.

What can I say? Robot V Robot was fun but didn't quite hit the mark, Tradestar Defense had that annoying awesome face and I got overrun quite quickly. The Reject was fun to play, and quite original, so it gets my vote

RvR wasn't bad, it just wasn't big, or conversion-y enough. With a bigger, more open and varied map, and NO GIBS Oh god the gibs, THE GIBS!!! It would totally be awesome.

Is that why one of my robots had health above 100? I thought that that was because of some sort of reward system. I suppose that's quite a silly mistake to make - I just had a hard time believing that that was it, I guess. Not that it isn't an amazing mod. As already stated, it just wasn't conversiony enough.

Re: Total Conversion Contest 1 | Voting
this has had quite a good turn out, considering how few mods there are and the fact that we're two days in. imma download everythign tonight, my internet is capped so it should be a rather un-fun endeavour - 4kb/s woooooo.

Re: Total Conversion Contest 1 | Voting
Hm. Well, here's my review:
Robots versus Robots is random chaotic action. In my opinion, the only thing it lacks is a better level design. True, it's the one that least fits the theme of the contest, but for a person who enjoys said random chaotic hell (like me) it has the potential for hours of fun. You get two teams of robots, and guns which spew out lots of exploding death, starting in diagonally opposing corners of a small room. In short, it's fun. With lots of explosions. And gibs.
Tradestar Defense is, well, a tower defense game, almost as chaotic as (but much more fun than) RvR. I haven't played one so diabolical since Darkstar One's second FLAK mission. But unlike that one, which was merely frustrating, this one is fun. The basic point is that you get a gun and lots of stuff to shoot at. Stuff which has the tendency to explode in fulfilling fireballs and/or smaller bombs/asteroids. Its only real problem are the glows on the turret's shots: they tend to make you forget that only the center of the round actually does damage, making the game (a bit) harder than it should be.
The Reject is... well, it's unique. For one the actor CAN ACTUALLY CLIMB! As in, really climb, not just stumble around near a ladder. Now, onto the game itself. You play in a tower-like room, in which blocks fall, you having to avoid said blocks (though lulz might be had by not doing so... or getting hit by one in mid-air). Nothing requiring a rocket scientist mind to do, but still extremely entertaining. A really nice touch would be the glowy markers which indicate whether a power-up or a block will fall and where. In the end, it's easily the least similar to vanilla content of the bunch.

My vote goes on Robot vs Robot because it was the most fun hands down. Tradestar got old and lagged and felt unfinished. The reject.. well yeah if i want to play that i'd play Avalanche.

Re: Total Conversion Contest 1 | Voting
so you don't vote for a mod because someone who didn't make it called it original (something the author never claimed)
man your priorities are wonderful

Nope. I didn't vote for it because I enjoyed robot vs robot more.

Re: Total Conversion Contest 1 | Voting
Seeing as how this is a "Total Conversion Contest" I feel inclined not to vote for my favorite but rather to vote for the one that felt the least like cortex command. And my my opinion that would be Reject My vote goes to: Reject ... my vote has been rejected

I lol'd
Biggest problem with RvR is the robots have the advantage of the high ground.
Shame about Tdef, if it weren't so laggy I'd love it.

Re: Total Conversion Contest 1 | Voting
Larger map would be great in RvsR. I'd say the current one is a bit too cramped since often the opposing sides are directly in others view and the units get destroyed nearly instantly without much ability to move them around. The larger units could use a better jetpack too.
