Post Civilians
Has anyone made any actors that are just regular civilians? Like businessmen and pedestrians and such?

I like having civilians or prisoners too.

I usually use Vault-Tec actors as civilians because they dress casually, I just place them randomly in my base, sometimes force them to fight.
I also use that Club Dilvol..whatever made by Ork Gothic. I changed the actor names a bit so I have Hitler as my prisoner, and a clown to entertain my troops. I also employ accountants and nurses in my base.

Basically my base is a refugee camp.

hmmmm, can we have a District 9 Prawn faction? It'll be somewhat awesome.

Also, on civilians, what if a mission was to be made... 'rescue the hostages' kind of stuff?

you could have them be non-controllable and only be able to set goto points for them.

I would love to see someone make some scientist actors (white labcoat, plaid button up shirt w/ pocket protector, khakis, glasses, white/gray Einstein(ish) hair, suspenders, etc.)

Also, it would be nifty if they had no collisions (I think is what it's referred to) if possible. If they could walk past one another without squashing/gibbing/killing each other that would be excellent.

I'm making a campaign right now that would make great use of something like this (and I'm probably not the only one). Basically extra meat to grind in essence, but before the meat is ground into chuck, would make good eye candy and create a more living atmosphere, instead of a world filled with just soldiers.

Perhaps maps filled with civilian workers that only carry diggers/shovels, and the military actors can be the guards that actually go do/kill/retrieve/whatever.

Regardless, I digress. More civilians, less military.

This message has been approved by me.

That's easy, just HitsMOs = 0 on the body.
However, other regular actors will still collide with them and such.

I remember some miner actors way back when, but they were clone proportion, not coalition, so they would be kind of misfitting if brought back.

Edit: what about something like these? Maybe not the professions you had in mind for civilians, but they're what I would expect CC to have, in non-military clones. An industrial welder clone and a miner clone. I can't guarantee they'll actually be made, but I thought I'd try doing some civic sprites, mostly from scratch.
Image
-Arm proportions are screwed up, I dunno what the hell I was thinking while making that outline.
-Feet and Hands missing
-Miner needs his own torso
-Not very masculine legs
-Miner helmet looks funny, probably the shades used
-Welding helmet seems very pasted on, probably could use a strap or something.

Purposefully jpeged as thief deterrent. I don't like the idea of someone using my stuff before I do.

Wow! Be sure to release it, they look good. The arms don't really look strange.

I love them! Yeah the legs are a bit feminine, but that's about it, awesome.

I agree - those look very cool - definitely release them, I'd be sure to use them :)

However, I was thinking something more of a technical minion, rather than blue collar. Basically someone that would never carry a weapon, run in fear of the first sight of a hostile, and be pretty much completely useless as far as a defender of a brain/objective.

I picture that miner seeing a Ronin and grabbing the first projectile weapon he sees. Although, now that I think about it - the welder might be battle-handy... throw some random metal parts around his torso and legs, and he could represent a makeshift faction defender... damn near bulletproof.

Put your hand in front of your shoulder.
Move it away horizontally.
What did your elbow do?
If it stayed at the same height like these sprites, consider allowing a team of biologists to examine your arms. Any reports they write, please have them send me a copy, that sounds fascinating.

I have been considering blatantly ripping off Killing Floor's door welding system and this guy would fit right in with that.
If I could figure out the formatting of Lua rays it would probably be a cakewalk.

How about this for battle-useless white collar coward?
Image
Something between one of Half Life's scientists and my math teacher.
He could use some legs though.
And those thick frame glasses almost look like a robin mask.
Holy quantum displacement, batman!

No, Azukki. Here's what YOU need to do:

Send me a report on how a few dozen sprite affects game play, player's experience, and how it might alter the gene pool of the human race, with in-game footage as reference and a comparison of full medical reports on your arm and the actor's arm. Finally concluding with possible plans of saving humanity from utter destruction due to irregular elbow displacement.

Then let me burn it. See what I mean?

'I DON'T CARE.'

Now, where was I? Oh yea, I like the scientist guy. Glasses look a bit strange, like you said.

That's exactly what I was looking for - I /approve

If you released that, I would be thoroughly pleased.

Make the glasses lighter, and change the colour. It needs to look a little more like the skin. A LITTLE.

But he's a sickly pale/pasty/pallid old white guy who has been inside for his entire adult life!

But, I'll try that, since with without zoom, I agree that it isn't really discernible as skin. I do this a lot, making something look good or realistic when zoomed in, but missing the effects that has on the big picture.
