Also, do NOT attack benign cells. Focus on destroying independent cells, not the full organism itself.

You spend 400 energy on poisonous cell upgrade. 300 energy remaining. No notable traits in benign cells or prey cells. Downstream cells fine. Starting area cells fine, but no prey in area.

If we can, send the 4 cells in the starting area UPstream, and have them get off at the earliest possible time. If not, have them join the 4 downstream.

Have downstream cells get off, preferablely in a place with more prey, and have starter cells join the new ones. Gain as much energy as possible and upgrade poison ability.

All 8 cells are downstream. They currently are not in the bloodstream. They find 5 cells and absorb them for a total of 250 energy. 550 energy remaining. 800 required for next poison upgrade.

Regular movement at all times, benign cells appear to be musclecells. 550 energy remaining. Now would be a good time to divide, with enough energy to divide into another 11 cells, totalling 19 cells.

A rudimentary brain will require at least 30 cells, and with only 30 cells you'll be rendered into a floating brain with no protection. 550 Energy left.

Divide into 9 more cells, so we still have a small backup of 100 energy, just in case this whatever we are in gets a seizure or something, 16 of us are crushed between the muscle cells.
