LFOW, im diverting quite a lot of my time into this, so hopefully you'll be surprised. ive got the lua framework down (finally <_<) so ill get to constructing actors and weapons to use. should be fun.

i need to copy a ton of sprites out aswell, but if photoshop is crashy i'll just give up on that and work more on this for a while.

Idea!

2 weeks won't produce anything that is polished in any form.

How about extending it to 4 or 5, BUT
have a half-way progress thing, to keep interest going.

This should be cool!

I can't think of any possible negative repurcussions ATM. I second.

function Create(self)

self.Lafe = self.short_attention_span
self.short_attention_span< 5 weeks
self.short_attention_span =< 2 weeks
end
end
--that's the only problem
-- i wouldn't mind an extension, but then everyone else would get 3 or 4
-- more weeks to work on it than me (i have to finish in about a week, i have to send in my comp for repairs before its to late.)

Ok, then a few more endorsements and I'll make it happen.
A fix for lafe would be cool too, but this is a mostly democratic decision. Gimme input.

I'll limit the previews to a screenshot, no more.
And this time, I am absolutely not doing anybody's screenshot.

howabout this?
we have the original limit to cough up a game, and then we have a contest 2 weeks from the end of this contest to create a polished version of that game?

no, just work on it more. if you dont want to be part of the contest, release it outside of the contest.
i second duh's incarnation of previewing, especially since it gives more time.

Last call for objections, if I don't get one in the next day I'll implement this plan:
Current due date will be changed to the "preview" day, in which single screenshots will be due for each mod planning on submitting. Obviously, if people join late they won't be able to submit a preview at this time, but that's fine.
Due date will be pushed back another 2 weeks, to the 20th of September. Voting date is the week after.

im not backing out. i CANT work on it more. i HAVE to send my comp away, my PARENTS will FORCE me to send it in, the only problem is that everyone (grif) will have 3 MORE WEEKS to work on it then me.

ME HAVE 2 WEEKS TO WORK ON IT. (the first and the last weeks)
THEY HAVE 4/5 WEEKS TO WORK ON IT. im not wining. im not trying to dodge work, its almost the same amount of work for me either way. im trying to dodge the fact that grif, who is already considered a better modder than me, will have a 3 week advantage. i had a slim chance of wining before, but with the extension, i have about .0001% of a chance of victory.
but dont take that as that i wont do it, ill still compete. .0001% is good enough for me.

A contest does not revolve around one person.

no need to get flustered, modding is about having fun and learning, as well as winning. you can at least do 2/3 at worst. time constraints shouldnt be yelled about, i've already got my actual game coding about 60% done if i want to get all planned features in, otherwise that part of it is practically finished, i just need to construct some better actors and weapons (all of which are already planned). if you spent less time worrying about your computer being taken away and more time working on this, and thinking of ideas to make it fun, you would see that TWO WEEKS TO WORK ON IT isnt such a big deal.

my coding is about 80% done, but the last 20% percent is coming along really slowly, maps with custom materials are a real ♥♥♥♥♥ to create.
but your correct in that i need to start having fun, ive just been so focused on trying to beat grif (i know this sounds imposable, but how the game is currently is actually pretty good) and then i realize that he gets 2ce the time as me, so it kind of stressed me out. but yeah, there not going to stop a mod contest just because of me, and if i dont do it now, ill eventually have my day to prove grif wrong about my ability level as a dev.

I have yet to start so you're already well ahead of me.

Tell me how many days you took to make your game and I'll use that many at the end of the deadline to make my submission. I truthfully haven't even made an .rte yet.

Also, voting for an extension just for the sake of everyone getting mods in.
