I like the spinning core thing, but I kind of liked the face.
I mean, if the humanoid soldiers have distinct eyes, why not the dropship, too?
Of course, I would probably treat it like a beloved pet and go to town on anyone who shot at it, but still.

Re: Art Dump Love it, but personally, I'd make the red part a bit wider. For some reason, I don't think it looks right when the red part is small like that, but that's just my opinion.

I guess I learned to render with pencils first, then I learned digital painting, then I tried spriting. Tutorials helped me a lot to start off with and then observing other peoples work and experimenting. How to make nice looking sprites I mostly learned from modding CC. Recreating my sprites over and over again. I kind of liked the face but I like this design more, it feels like it has more volume and depth to it.
