What? Basically you're saying that time making art should be spent playing games? I play plenty of games, and that's pretty off topic anyway.

From Polygons to Paint

The following is made in blender, but I'm going for a painted feel. This was done with a neat trick involving motion blur and displacement and procedural bumpmaps which cycle each frame, and blender mixes the in-between frames to create this effect.

The displacement maps are set waaay to high on the wacom pen. Its not bad, it just is set way to high. It alters the mesh way too much imo. If you're going for painted feel I'd say fiddle with diffuse maps like marble/craggy rocks using a cell shader. It gives a nifty effect. Remember, even a painting would have its straight lines as well. Cheers mate and keep goin' at it.

That is cel shading on the pen.

I made the dog in 3d coat, and animated it in blender.

He was talking about the picture. Critique: Not a big fan. The overall stance the dog is using is unnatural. Plus the nose and mouth look unnatural, and the shoulders look crushed. However this is a good start but it definitely needs work.

Horses have that. And I used a reference image, all proportions are correct, if my image is trusty.
