Post A steampunk character request
I think the only tough obstacle for my request would be the spriting (I think, I'm not much for mod making). But this is a character I made up a month or two ago based on steampunk fantasy.
Image
I thought he would look great in CC, no special abilities or anything, just a robot based character with a trenchcoat and an awkwardly large cylindrical head. The Machine Gun is integrated into his wrist and is similar in function and power to a PKM. I don't know if the trenchcoat is a possibility seeing as the leg sprites are separate from the torso, if not than let me know and I will delete this thread.

If you do decide to give this a shot (first of all thank you) I am willing to draw up a more schematic view of him.

Exactly what I thought. With a machine gun.

Thank you all for the brilliantly useful posts. I'll roll back into my ditch now.

Hard boiled detectives wear trench coats, and Clockwork is... Steampunk. Clockwork. Gears.

Sure, here's a relatively more useful post:

Judging solely by the image itself, this looks strange. Not like strangely cool, but just strange. I'm not sure if a robot in a trench coat is cool. Maybe a back-story will explain things.

I think it involves the fact that something so primitive can function so advancedly. With the right innards, you could potentially have a steam powered mech. See Exhibit A: A-5 "Panzor The Invincible"

Except it can't. That's what bothers me the most about it. I am all about supporting the innovative and I enjoy fictional technology, but that always just seemed too far out of left field for me.

Such as the "There is no way in this or any other parrallel universes steam could ever provide enough muscle to lift, move, and power a mech." factor, or the "Steam is not an effective brain" factor that goes with all autonomous steam powered robots?

True, some steampunk stuff is just exaggerated, but some could actually be done. I find it quite an enjoyable and highly addictive branch of fiction, up to the point that I watched Steamboy about five times this week and spent this morning trying to transform an old pressure cooker in a steam engine. Talking about Steamboy, it is also a nice example of "possible" steampunk. Aside from the humungous steam tower and the flying pod, most of the machines present in the movie could actually be done, though it would take quite an amount of time and money.

Also, on topic: I actually find that robot pretty cool. If you could attach an AEmitter to it's head with a yellow glow, to make it look like that eye thing of his is some kind of ancient flashlight, it would look specially great.

EDIT: Also, THOR, is it just me or you've still got a "banned" tag under your name?
