Tell that to the heaps of people that play CC because it can run on old hardware. The bottleneck is physics and no hardware acceleration. It's about CPU, not memory. But I agree 8-bit graphics look cool.

My CC folder is larger than a gigabyte. If I were to load all my mods at once I'm quite sure older computers would run out of ram long before any major CPU stress.

Yeah, let's change the palette so we all have to recolor -everything-.
More work please.
And you people wonder why this thread died 2 years ago.

Try playing with glow on.
Try playing with them off.
Measure speed.
Which is faster.
To more noticeable difference play something with lots of glows. EDIT: 2GB ram limit ftl.

Re: CC doesn't support RGB,Why?!
Is it 8 because 4 are used per ordinate on the palette so that you end up with the palette as a 16 by 16 box? Because 4 bits can be 0-15... and the palette is 16x16... and I thought that might be the reason... yeah...

Right, that makes considerably more sense.

Usually when I think about 8bit I think about Mario >___>' you're thinking of system architectures, the NES was 8-bit while the SNES and Genesis were 16-bit however the NES had 53 total? colors/greys available (dunno how that works out) and the Genesis had 64 colors available onscreen (6-bit palette) anyway the CPU architecture and available palette depth are unrelated

I'll just sit here and wait for the day when GPU's are also used as or assist CPU's (when not being heavily taxed)...seriously, they're way more powerful
