Post Black screen & other small things on a newly built comp
Just built this mofo:

And when I press the power button, everything starts up. But I get a black screen. Well, really I get nothing, because my monitor falls asleep because it's not getting any input from the computer. I don't know what the issue is, Intel service rep people said I should take it to Geek Squad.

On the startup there are no beeps, so it seems everything is going fine. Except that it powers on for about 5-10 seconds, powers down, stays off for 2-3 seconds, then comes back on and stays on.

So why do I get a black screen?
On another note, my USB mouse and keyboard don't get power from the computer. How do I know this? My keyboard won't light up and the laser on my mouse doesn't turn on.

I'm running Vista 32 bit, Intel Pentium D @ 3 & 3, 3GB DDR2 memory, GeFore9600 GT, and have a 530W psu.

Irrelevant. And it's on a CD.

Umm... Well the USB ports are connected to the motherboard. That's not my big problem though.

I want to know why my screen is blank.

I googled this and read through lots of stuff. I've tried it w/o RAM, w/o other stuff, changing out the cables, etc. but nothing does anything.

Used my old processor.

And forget about the USB issue, they work. So now it's just the video output.

Does your motherboard have onboard video?

Went to Geek Squad, found out the mobo was bad. Sending it in to Newegg to get a new one.

did you install bios? really, you need bios for anything on your PC to work
im running pheonix 6.0 bios, i suggest those if you know where to find them.

check all you connections from wire and make sure they are all firmly placed in the correct path, your screen connections may be messed up or you OS went bad. try reinstalling your OS or installing diffrent bios.

What the ♥♥♥♥
Are you seriously that stupid bro
All mobos have a bios when they come out of the factory, you can change them, but ♥♥♥♥'s kind of annoying and there's really no point unless you think your bios is ♥♥♥♥.

A day after I sent it back, I found a little shard of circuitry.

So that was probably what was wrong. Doesn't matter, I get my new one in soon.
