Post Coalition Dreadnought
Hi folks here is my finished prototype Coalition Dreadnought

Image

Original Art from intro

Image

Walking standard.

Image

Thought this needed a rudimentary booster to help mobility (only use for short bursts as in the animation)

Image

The standard Gatling which has been slightly changed. I also put in a standard gun sprite more in keeping with the artwork, it is coded so you can easily replace the weapon in the relevant .ini

Image
FREE TO USE SPRITE SHEET (Please give a mention if used or recycled in some other mod)

Up front (before I pull on the asbestos pants) .....
Needs some more work on the gibs and emitters really but I have not bothered as I intend to start the next version soon, oh also I did need to balance the armour toughness so you can shoot it away better.
I know its not really accurate to scale but I was working with standard dread legs!

I will release version 2 with more modular armour along with some of the other factions I am working on like Zombie, Ronin and Whitebot dreads and dummy Mk2 dread all using a bigger leg set.

I hope someone enjoys playing with it as much as I enjoyed learning from putting it together.

Props in order here....
Data as always for his amazing game.
Azukki for his inspirational modding templates (perfect for a n00b modder to cut their teeth).
Prometheus for his excellent art skills and futuristic visions.
Everyone who is modding in this scene for inspiration.
Also you for reading this post DL'ing it trying it out and giving feedback toward version 2 hopefully.

Cheers, here is an alternate DL at my hosting http://www.mesosphere.co.uk/CC_MODS/Coalition%20Dreadnought.rte.7z

Very nice but change the muzzle flash offset. Outside of that this thing is the crap.

Yeah the flash offset is out  but I just wanted to get it out before Monday as I will be too busy to do much to it in the week. I might re-up this prototype with some better gibs sounds and alternative weapons next weekend if there is enough people want it, otherwise I will just work on version 2 and my other dreads ( really need to work on different legs tbh)

Cheers for trying tho :D

Looks alright.
But um, WHY was using Dreadnought legs a restriction?
You shouldn't even BE using them, they look wrong.

Very nice, handles great on ground. But took 20 damage dropping from a ship to concrete, and was not very easy to control in the air.
I felt like it was slightly smaller than expected, but I totally killed the tutorial base in 30 seconds.

I would've liked to see the cockpit look more streamline and the colors are a little too dark for my tastes but it certainly looks nice. I'm gonna dig up the old Coalition Conqueror and make 'em fight eachother.

The base and legs need to be bigger to be in scale, but otherwise, good job! It's already been done before, but that doesn't matter. I prefer your sprites and it has a nice gib.

There isn't a cockpit, FYI, the Dreadnoughts are robotic as far as I know.

First of all, look at the sprites in the first post, dumby :P
Second, that's an assumption most people have made, not a fact that we've been told by Data/other devs.

Make it slightly more resistant to falling and you've got a great actor

And some bulkier legs to make it look less like some big head, small body caricature would be appreciated

That it? (obviously the censoring was intentional, I just feel dirty if I leave it in there)

Post Re: Coalition Dreadnought
Hi all just a few replies to your valued feedback.

Winterous, the reason I used the standard dummy legs was they were readily available and had existing walkpaths (this is something I will be working on for my next version and for other factions) if I had got into changing the legs I would have taken about 3 times as long to produce this. i have said I am happy for people to use this themselves and for someone with more experience with coding walkpaths such as yourself you could I am sure customise this easily (also I felt that as I had used the head for a coalition soldier as a basis for the scale that the relative head heights of the dread looked close enough not to be a major worry).

PhantomAGN, the legs were not sufficiently strengthened for an un-managed drop, this was a bit of an oversight as during my testing I was using either the dread jetpack or bringing the dropship quite low with manual control of the dropship. Unmanned drops can lose some health I admit. The size was based on the original artwork and reference from a coalition sprirte therefore in version 2 I will make the sprite somewhat bigger to go with slightly bigger legs and will look at making it look more sleek and deadly. yes the Gatling is probably overpowered but was not intended to be balanced with vanilla content (it can easily be edited to presonal preference).

The Cling Clang, I did the best I could within the small size in terms of shading I would have liked to have the C1 decal on the side also but could not work out how to stop it from fliping horizontal when change direction, also what is the coalition conqueror? link please?

Morbo!!!, the cockpit i would assume is hinted at by the fact there seems to be some glass/or other reflective screens at the top of the chassis, I would also assume the brown thing on the rear is a ancillary fuel can? perhaps I am wrong but who would need this if not a pilot I am not arguing with you about this but if you have some sort of developer comments on the designs can you share the link as this will inform version 2 cheers :D Also you mentioned "it's already been done before" I did look for it in the forums was this in an earlier build pre-22 as i have only been playing from 22 onwards I would appreciate a link so i can check it out for ideas.

1nfernal, sorry but how do you mean "small body caricature would be appreciated".

An undead dready? Immediately got the mental image of an acid-spitting four-legged walking blob of abomination.
