Can we also refrain from saying wether or not we've used pirate bay please. Otherwise we should end up banning you for admitting to piracy.

I honestly think that spotify has a large part to play in the coming year, due to it's fairly low price and hopefully a larger catalogue of music to choose from.

I don't think people who are using Itunes/napster/however you get your music, legally, will convert to the new LEGAL pirate bay.

But who knows, they might come up with ways to get the crowd's attention outside of internet pirates.

The whole P2P scene will get interesting when someone makes something that offers a high privacy system with no need for a central site and is fast.
Right now, I have yet to see something that fulfills all 3 of those.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darknet_(file_sharing)

Darknets, operating without a central storage or cataloging facility, that utilize highly restrictive access and are capable of high-speeds over software-encrypted data links.

Just gotta have enough people using it to make it worth your while. But with increased user base comes decreased security.

TPB had more than just piracy on it. Had a ton of freeware.

And censored materials.
Scientology documents, for an example.

Just out of curiosity, why torrent a Scientology Document, or the Bible for that matter?

Because those nuts can abuse copyright law to sue the hell out of anybody hosting their documents.

Nobody sues you if you host the bible.
Scientology sues you if you host their stuff because you have to pay to get a high enough rank to see it.
And supposedly become more enlightened which also allegedly cures any and all diseases.
And by pay I don't mean like $20 for the documents, it was something ridiculous per level or something.

Apparently they sort them into classes, like college.
Note this was in 1995 (found it quickly with google), so it could be out of date now.

You pay for what is basically a religion?
Well gee, if you didn't have to pay for Scientology (not like torrenting, but getting the books for free in real life) , then what would happen?

Because the bible is public domain.

Was gonna write that. Decided I wasn't sure. Decided I couldn't be bothered typing "w bible" into my address bar to wikipedia it. Didn't write it.

So anyway, when The Pirate Bay goes legit, will they be changing the name?
"The Pirate Bay" is a sort of suspicious name for any download website and I for one know that most parents aren't hard to coax into RAWRMORALOUTRAGEOMFGSTEALINGBREATHESFIRE mode.

Pirates of the Caribbean. Marketed as a children's movie. Parents are not logical.
If they play up the "legal" part, they could market the name as ironic.
Not that I expect it'll last long, judging from what they've been saying as far as how they'll make a profit off of it.
